Yummm...

By Katelyn

from NC

Comments about Teavana Sweet Asian Pear White Tea:

This is the first Teavana tea that I have made at home. I have always just used cheap black tea bags, so I wanted to start drinking higher quality tea. This tea is divine! It has a beautiful, light flavor with a gentle and pleasing fruitful taste. Many people either say this tea is bitter, or talk about how carefully you have to make this tea. I guess I just had luck because I boiled my water without measuring the temperature, measured out what APPEARED as 1.5 tsp, and filled my mug up with the amount of water that fills my mug all the way up. I let it steep for 4-5 minutes, added two packets of sweet-and-low, ... and WA-LAH! Perfection!

I made this in an iced tea maker and it is delicious! It really tastes more like bubble gum than pear though. :)

Yummy

By Sher

from Macomb,michigan

Comments about Teavana Sweet Asian Pear White Tea:

If you want to drink tea without sugar, this is the one. Recent visit to store, manager complained about shoppers wanted 2 oz. If the employee is heavy handed you could pay 2 or more dollars. Teavana be fair. You already make the customer pay for 2 oz. Train your staff to be understanding and for it not to be a big deal to scoop the extra out. Or here's a thought, do it in the first place!!! This isn't a problem when a customer orders online. Hum!

Good, But Not As Good As...

By pradcliffe

from Silver Spring, MD

Comments about Teavana Sweet Asian Pear White Tea:

This pear tea has a soft, light taste if not steeped too long. Needs a touch of sweetener to bring out the full flavor. Love the fragrance. BUT, not as flavorful and a bit more artificial tasting than the discontinued Pear Luna. That was five star perfection. please bring it back with no change in the formula.

Pear Made it Heaven

By TEAriffic

Comments about Teavana Sweet Asian Pear White Tea:

Delicious light, fruity tea. I love it. I do agree that water temperature and steep time really matter with this tea. However, it's worth the fuss.

I've started taking my water temperature to enjoy these teas

By Nica

from Canada

Comments about Teavana Sweet Asian Pear White Tea:

I noticed that a few of the new teas I bought mention the temperature should be 76 degrees celsius, while most of the other teas sold say between 91 and 96 degrees celsius. I wasn't sure how long to let my boiling water sit before steeping my tea, but luckily i remembered I had a meat thermometer in the drawer, so I let it cool for a few minutes and then took the temperature. Once the water was around 76 degrees celsius i poured it over 3 scoops of tea in my perfect tea maker, time it for 2 minutes and then pour it into a cup. It's perfect and fragrant and definitely worth it.

I had noticed that when i had made the orange blossom/youthberry blend previously if i let it steep too long it would have a weird bitter flavour. (Orange blossom says 5 min, youthberry says 2 min)Since ensuring the temperature is very close and timing my steeps, I haven't had this issue and think it's important when making tea that contains orange rind or white tea that you don't oversteep it.

A Word of Caution!

Comments about Teavana Sweet Asian Pear White Tea:

Caution: If you are not a person who takes the temperature of your water, then times the steep, then do NOT get this tea! Everyone who has said it is bitter did not listen to the directions. However, if you are a rule-follower and do exactly as it says, both in temperature of the water and in time allowed for steeping, then the tea will not taste bitter. This is a very finicky tea (as it must be made only a certain way) and I do not find that most Teavana teas are quite this "needy" if you will. However, if you LOVE the smell (as I do... it is what made me want to buy the tea in the first place) then go through the extra effort to make it perfectly so that you can actually have the tea taste as good as it smells, instead of bitter and rather fake.
