one of my favorites

Comments about Teavana Tung Ting Oolong Tea:

This green wulong tea is smooth and silky even after the 5th steep (5 consecutive cups with the same 1/2 teaspoon; still felt caffeine in the 5th cup) and doesn't have that almost metallic spent flavor that I've experienced in more expensive Teavana green and white teas. The flavor profile has an umami-like complexity with a sweet exotic woodiness to it. The aromas both dry and wet are appetizing and heady. This is one tasty tea.

Comments about Teavana Tung Ting Oolong Tea:

I am new to the TEA world. Other than the commercial variety when sick... i never chose to appreciate the qualities found in a superior tea. My first purchase at TEAVANA: Tung Tin Oolong, well for starters a bit unsettled to find that i paid 6 bux more per portion than is offered here on the website. Smooth, light and im told that it is good for metabolism and fat burn.. i like the "natural" element. No more soda! Only filtered water and organic Teas. Hoping to achieve a health benefit from prolonged enjoyment of natures natural stuffs...

Tung Ting Oolong is for real tea tasters

By JoMarie

Comments about Teavana Tung Ting Oolong Tea:

Tung Ting Oolong Tea- is grown on Tung Ting Mountain at 740 meters elevation. Where the hills are fog and cloud shrouded each morning and late afternoon. Tung Ting Tea is known by connoisseurs as the world's finest semi-fermented tea. It is for real tea lovers. A mind clearing, calming tea. I started drinking Tung Ting during my trips to Taiwan. It was difficult to get here. Now it's available. And I'm happy that Teavana supplies an old favorite.

A great tea

By SD tea enthusiast

Comments about Teavana Tung Ting Oolong Tea:

I'll admit I'm not a big fan of Oolong teas - but this tea has really blown me away. It is very, very, very smooth. I don't think it needs any additives, e.g. milk, sugar, fruit, etc., if you're drinking it hot - which I think is the best way to prepare it. Congratulations Teavana - you're finally offering great new teas for tea drinkers.

Not my cup of tea ....

By TeaPurist

from Toronto, ON

Comments about Teavana Tung Ting Oolong Tea:

Let's first get out of the way that a preference for tea is subjective and will no doubt vary from person to person...

Finally a new oolong!

My first impression of the tea when it was steeped was its aroma. It had a smoky smell (see Teavana tea description: "fired") and reminded me a little of a famous Chinese tea I purchased elsewhere, but I didn't like unfortunately, called the "Big red cape" (roasted version), as a point of reference. Both the taste and the smell are distinctly stronger than the Monkey Picked Oolong (I have a cup of both in front of me right now). It is in my personal opinion that the Monkey Picked Oolong is superior.

Be warned - I love Golden dragon and the Monkey Picked Oolong, but I absolutely hate this tea because it's smoky. So before you purchase this product, make sure you know that you'll enjoy this, instead of looking at ad infinitum rave online reviews.

Quality wise, the MPO is a bit better. I can see thick stems just floating around in the Tung Ting, while I see none in the MPO. Other than that it's fine.

Try it out yourself and make your own decision!

I recommend 4 teaspoons brewed hot, a teaspoon of rock sugar, and a splash of milk/cream. It comes out tasting like a really nice milk tea from a bubble tea place.

Best Oolong

By Hannah

from Santa Rosa, CA

Comments about Teavana Tung Ting Oolong Tea:

This tea is by far one of the best oolong teas Teavana has to offer. I was so excited to discover Teavana had not one, but TWO new pure teas, both of them by far some of the best teas I've ever had. I highly recommend it if you like Monkey Picked Oolong, Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearls or Golden Dragon (it blends excellently with Jasmine Pearls and Golden Dragon). It doesn't NEED sweetener, but I add just a light amount of the Belgian Rock Sugar just to enhance the wonderful flavor components it has.
