All good things must come to end?

By jeff vaughan

Comments about Teavana Sencha Jade Reserve Green Tea:

I've been buying and drinking this tea almost daily for roughly ten years. Despite trying many other sencha teas, I have always come back to this one as it suites my tastes. With my most recent order, I noticed the packaging change. Unfortunately, the tea inside seems to have changed too. Cut more roughly and not as smooth, sweet and grassy as before. What was a quality tea at a fair price is now just another average sencha. Disappointing.

Nice for the mornings

By Mikaela

Comments about Teavana Sencha Jade Reserve Green Tea:

As other reviewers have said, don't go too hot with this tea. I actually like it around 140 and for about 1 minute of steeping for my own taste, but play around with it a little to find what works for you.

As far as the taste, it is very veggie-like. To me, it is kind of like spinach. At first I was wondering if this was normal or not since I'm not super familiar with green teas, but after some research it seems to be so for some types. To me, it is exactly as described... fresh and vegetal with a slight sweetness to it. After brewing, it has a very sweet smell. Do be careful with the temperature though, because this tea is very sensitive to it and will get bitter easily.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Jade Reserve Green Tea:

Very good tea. Its not bitter at all. I heat my water at 165 and steep it for 1 minute. It comes out prefect. Don't step it with water any hotter than 165 or longer then one minute because it will be bitter and the color will change. One of the best things about this tea is the fact that it's so green. It's wonderful.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Jade Reserve Green Tea:

I am a very picky tea drinker .... I like very simple (1 flavour) teas. And I usually do not go all out, by measuring water temperature and so on. I will however go to great lengths to find the perfect vessel to make the tea in ....
I think it is all about the container you use for your teas.
For this tea a very fine bone china mug works wonders. Teavana has them. I use the Ume mug.

Or if I am in a hurry, I throw the tea in a travel tumbler, add some sweetner and fill it up with boiled water and just sip at this all day. The tea will not turn bitter or metallic. On the contrary it gets very strong and is very uplifting like that.
In regards to the water temperature, I use a kettle, once the water boils and the kettle shuts off, I wait until it stops bubbling and pour.
I think this is one of the best green teas out there.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Jade Reserve Green Tea:

If you did not like this tea, there is a good chance you did not steep it correctly. I made it two different ways: with the perfect tea maker and with the breville tea maker. It is amazing with the breville, not as good with the manual tea maker. So this is a finicky tea to brew. When brewed correctly, it is not bitter at all, very soothing, very unique flavor profile, very smooth. I find this is the best green tea teavana makes.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Jade Reserve Green Tea:

I drink high end Japanese green teas ever morning for the past 10+ years and I've got to say this is by far the worst Sencha I've had. It's hard to explain but the tea itself almost has a bitter sort of chocolate/coffee hint to it that as a drinker of high end Sencha I am not a fan. There are many other brands to choose from that are in the same price range so google it.

This tea has a very potent spinach or seaweed smell to it, but once you can overcome that, the tea does not taste bad. However, since smell and taste are so intertwined with each other, if you do not like the smell of spinach, you will not like this tea.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Jade Reserve Green Tea:

I love green tea and I don't mind the grassy taste. But for some reason I can't brew this without getting an intense bitter taste! The associate at Teavana recommended that I use water that isn't too hot and should not steep it for very long. Well I used warm water and steeped for about 30 seconds...still bitter. Also has an almost metallic after taste. It's not drinkable unless it's loaded with lemon and some type of sweetener. I'm not sure how all the other reviewers are getting such good results but I won't be purchasing this again.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Jade Reserve Green Tea:

Just discovered loose leaf teas about two weeks ago. I think this stuff tastes great. I use about 2.5-3tsp. in my 14oz mug and steep for a little longer than a minute. It always turns out to have a consistent flavor. The last cup I made with 1/2 tsp of xylitol (tea enthusiasts please don't stab me) and it seemed to have softened the flavor but it still turned out great.

Good stress relieving tea, couldn't imagine what a higher quality tea could yield. Will buy this again.
