Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Genmaicha Green Tea:

I drink this every morning! It is by far my favorite tea, and I've re-bought it multiple times. I steep it quite strongly without sugar. It astounds me that some of these comments are so negative! Don't listen, this tea won't disappoint.

    That awful smell!

    By Heppster182

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Genmaicha Green Tea:

The dry leaves smell amazing, okay? But when steeped, this smells horrible. So terrible, even, that I couldn't drink or taste it. Smells like burnt plastic when steeped.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Genmaicha Green Tea:

I am very picky about my teas, and I "purchased" this one with a Starbucks reward (talk to your local Teavana for details, y'all; it's a steal), so I got a free ounce to try. To be honest, I was a little put off by the smell after it was brewed, but it's not strong enough to be a deal breaker. The rice pieces definitely add a nutty taste to the tea which is at first a little strange but which grew on me as I drank. Were it not for the scent, I would give it four stars, but scent can be a very important thing to a tea-drinking experience.

Would I purchase it again? -Possibly. I enjoy it, but it hasn't yet hooked me completely.
Would I recommend it? -That is harder to answer. I like strong flavors, which aren't always for everyone. My suggestion is that if you don't mind scent, at least try it. Ask for a cup at your local store and see what you think before you buy it. If you like the Gyokuro Imperial, Jeju Island Green, or Dragonwell, try this one. They're very similar but there's something extra to this one that you get from the rice.

I absolutely LOVE this tea! I add a little bit of Splenda and it reminds me very much of the Golden Crisp cereal. Try it; you'll like it! :-)

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Genmaicha Green Tea:

I was looking for a tea like the one they serve at my favorite sushi restaurant. I knew it was green but the nutty flavor threw me off, so I did a search of the Googles and found this. I was a little nervous after reading the mixed reviews, but I'm glad I got it, because it is just what I was looking for! I followed the instructions and steeped it for 1 minute, but after tasting it, I wanted a little more flavor, so I added another 20 seconds and it was just right. Great tea.

      Delicious but sensitive

      By Monica

      from San Franciso

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Genmaicha Green Tea:

I steep this at 140 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 minute and its delicious. I prepare my water temp then steep the leaves. I reuse the leaves 3-4 times but only because I follow this way of brewing it. The guy at the store said that this is the best way to do it and it comes out perfect every time!

You gotta know how to brew

      By Bailey the Barista

      from Seattle, WA

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Genmaicha Green Tea:

You gotta know how to brew it, 35-60 seconds at 175. Make it wrong and it burns. Tricky green tea, but if you can do it right it is amazing. Adds a little extra to the oceanic gyokuro imperial.

      Smells like catfood

      By Jim the Runner

      from Boston MA

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Genmaicha Green Tea:

I got this tea and was very excited to give it a try. I had just gotten a new mug and everything, only to be disappointed.

First off, it smells terrible. If I were to open up my cat's bag of food and inhale, I would get the same smell as this tea. Not to be off put by the smell, I brewed a cup to try. The smell got worse. It stunk up the whole kitchen, lingering for hours after. Not to mention, the tea went straight down the drain once I tasted it.

However, I was able to return the tea and get another variety. The Jeju Island Green is awesome.
