Comments about Teavana Dragonwell Green Tea:

Although I am pretty knew to loose leaf I have been jumping head first. I normally go for as strong a black tea or the moat umami and full bodied green despite that has become my go to favorite for my night after dinner tea.I don't find this to be a difficult brew at all (and trust I am still new to this and often end up a too bitter cup of other teas). Although less full bodied than my typical tastes with the low caffeine and natural sweetness, I love this tea and usually have a couple of cups while I chilling out before I go to bed. This also the first tea I reach for when guests are over and aren't sure what they like. So far I it has yet to disappoint.

Great Tea ~ If Done Right.

    By TeaScience

    from Toronto, ON

Comments about Teavana Dragonwell Green Tea:

WARNING: Any deviation will lead to bitter/grassy taste. If done right, there is no aftertaste.
If you boiled your water, cut it with 20% cold water. I usually just fill 20% of my brewing container with cold (and the leaves) then add hot.
I do not feel this can be brewed with a tea ball(Too weak). Must be loose in a chamber with the water, then the leaves filtered out.
Only steep for 2 minutes, never more.
Do not use a coffee/tea press.
For leaves to be good for a second steep, you cannot leave them in water. Wet is okay, just not enough to float or be submersed.

NOTE: This is a product is made by hand. there will be variation in quality. If you feel yours is off, get it replaced. I have.

You can tell I go to great lengths to see how lazy I can be while brewing.

Other than being a fussy brew, this tea is great.

great, well-known light bodied green tea

    By cody

    from canada

Comments about Teavana Dragonwell Green Tea:

as with all chinese traditional teas, brewing is different from western methods. tea is always washed once with hot water and continually infused in the tea cup as it is drunk (empty) with fresh hot water (with increasing steep times with each subsequent infusion). there is no need to adhere to steep time as it is often served immediately and drunk once cool enough to do so.

the aroma of this tea is unlike any other i've experienced. provided the batch is not old, there is a strong sweet fresh odour to the tea that is very distinctive. the odour should persist and intensify after infusion in hot water. the leaves should revert back to their original natural shapes.

the flat appearance is also a hallmark of this type of tea and is the result of (as mentioned in the tea discription) hand pressing.

the flavor profile is very light and has little to no bitter notes if brewed properly. if you're following traditional chinese brewing, the flavor should intensify as you get to the bottom of the cup due to the extra infusion time. the last few sips before adding fresh water are usually my favorite as the flavor is stronger and more distinctive.

    My go-to tea

    By Tea Mama

    from Engadine, MI

Comments about Teavana Dragonwell Green Tea:

As a former Lipton sipping rube, I have only recently tried loose leaf teas and something more than a generic black. Green teas are now my most favorite, and so far, Dragonwell is my personal favorite for sitting down and enjoying the wonder that is a great brew. The green vibrancy is mellowed out with a wonderfully subtle nutty sweetness that brings out an overall roundness that borders on addictive for me. I love it with sugar ( old habits die hard, sorry tea snobs), and I think that a hint of the sugar really does wake up that faintly sweet note in the leaves.
As for brewing, brew it just a tad longer than you are told to. It won't get bitter unless your water is too hot (don't use boiling water for any green, bring it to just under boiling for the right temperature) and if you accidentally leave it brewing for an insanely long time. You can rebrew up to three times, but the third cup is admittedly weak.
Bottom line, this is an awesome tea. I totally recommend this!

A new level of green tea

    By Julie the Shy B

    from Cumming, GA

Comments about Teavana Dragonwell Green Tea:

I have had green tea since elementary, mostly as I grew older at Japanese restaurants. This tea is so clean. I know it does my body good, but it also does my mind good. I am refreshed mentally. Sometimes I will brew it with herbal teas to give it a twist, but it's so good it doesn't need it. It stands on it's own.

Great foundation... Works well with rooibos blends.
However as a retired military spouse on fixed income the cost is up in the luxory range I cannot afford or justify on a regular basis. :(
