SO disappointed

By RJK

from NC

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Black Tea:

Earl Grey has been my favorite tea since my British friend introduced me to it in the 1970s. I used to buy the 2 LB vacuum sealed bags of EG loose tea from Teavana for years. We still have some of the tea from prior to the Starbucks buy out. It still smells good & brews up tasty. In comparison, the new tea is totally disappointing. As others have noted, the scent is ok but after the tea steeps, the scent & flavor are gone. The tea does not even taste good as a plain black tea. I do not recommend it & would give it zero stars if possible.

So disappointed

By RJK

from NC

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Black Tea:

I have loved Earl Grey tea since my British friend introduced me to it in the 1970s. It is my very favorite, I have never tired of it. I used to buy the 2 lb vacuum packed loose tea from Teavana. We still have about 4 ounces of the really good EG from before Starbucks bought them out. About 2 weeks ago we bought the smallest amount of loose EG we could to try it. As others have said, it has some bergamot scent prior to brewing; afterward it has NO scent & NO flavor. It doesn't even taste like good plain black tea. I am SO disappointed. I don't know where to find a really great EG loose tea anymore. I will never buy this again. I do not recommend it at all. Would give it zero stars if I could.

Awful

By Cassie

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Black Tea:

Earl Grey is a favorite of mine. I was out and had a gift card for teavana so figured I would buy some, along with various other teas. This is by far the worst. The leaves smell great. The tea has zero bergamot fragrance once brewed. It smells like Lipton tea if anything. The tea, even brewed with 2 scoops of leaves at 205°for 3 minutes as the site says, produces a very thin tea. There's no bergamot flavor at all. This isn't Earl Grey. It tastes like Lipton tea with an artifical spicy aftertaste. Even though I used a gift card, I'm upset I purchased this. When I'm out, I'll buy twinnings in a pinch, never this again.

Very nice

By TX Tea Guy

from Dallas

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Black Tea:

Been drinking this for several months and it has become a part of my morning routine. Apparently there are some people who have no idea about how earl grey is made. For the price and quality this is a great mid to high level tea. If you have any questions or doubts about quality I suggest doing a comparison. Open a regular tea bag and look the leaves. Notice how the grains look like something you'd sweep up. There is a reason for that...it's what's left after they remove the quality tea. The Teavana product after it's steeped is a fuller leaf and looks like what tea should look like.

I Got Sick Drinking This Tea

By Calista

from Vancouver, Canada

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Black Tea:

I almost never comment or review anything ever, but I can barely type this out and I wanted to make sure to warn anyone out there.

I ordered a London Fog tea from Starbucks a few hours ago and I am so sick!! Honestly, I hadn't had one of these drinks since Starbucks turned everything into Teavana because I'm calorie conscious, they had never made me ill in the past. My tummy is turning and I feel like I am going to vomit.

I am generally really healthy, active, eat good food, avoid mega-chemicals and have zero allergies or intolerances. I am really in tune with my body so I can tell that whatever was in this tea made me sick.

I feel like I've just ingested perfume.

Teavana, please be conscious of peoples health and make an effort to use strictly natural ingredients.

Does not taste like Earl Grey

By Aileen,

from Los Altos, Ca

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Black Tea:

The tea is over powered by Anise which is not listed on the ingredient. There is no Earl Grey Taste, just a spicy Anisette, and tastes very artificial. Does not like it, either hot or cold.

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Black Tea:

The flavor is acceptable but using artificial ingredients is not. Furthermore the artificial ingredients aren't even listed, what am I injesting? I wish I was informed of this in the store before purchasing it in bulk.

My first tea from this company and I like how smooth this was. The flavors are not overpowering like some Earl Greys! I am addicted already.

Artifical flavor of bland tea

By Linda

from Bakersfield, CA

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Black Tea:

No where on-line did it warn of 'artificial flavor' - it's on the bag. This whole shipment is sub par. I am going to bring it to the brick and mortar store in the city and ask for replacement without artificial flavor, and also request sample of fresh brewed tea to make sure I get real Earl Gray.

Best Earl Grey (in my humble opinion)

By LadyMichelleAndTheEarlGrey

from Michigan

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Black Tea:

I love Earl Grey, and Teavana's blend is my favorite hands down. I have tried many different brands (bags, sachets, loose), and this one is the best. I have had a few Early Greys that taste too "green," with a grassy flavor. And some that were bitter from too much bergamot oil. This tea is delightful and smooth. A nice rich black tea with a hint of bergamot. I use three teaspoons per 12 ounces of boiling water and steep for 4 minutes. It is perfect every time.
