Description

Ancient and revered, this exclusive pearl-shaped white tea was reserved for the Imperial Chinese aristocracy until just recently. Still a well-gaurded secret, the rare Silver Needle tea is a masterpiece to tea aficionados. Hand- rolled, pearl-shaped tea buds exude a subtle, smooth, silky taste of exotic Asia, as each leaf releases a hint of its rarest, purest form. IMPERIAL RESERVE

Mellow infusion with silky sweet undertones. More fragrant cup than SilverNeedle.

I was so excited to see this tea at my local Teavana (an hour's ride away through the worst parts of CT >.< Please make one in Norwich. We have a HUGE market for one between the casinos and our local mall) [...]This tea was an amazing opportunity for me to really see what quality is.This tea lives up to its reputation. It is an amazingly well flavored white tea and it tastes like I can't find the words to describe. It tastes like nature, a nice warm mellow day in spring on a green hill with a warm breeze bringing to moisture from the nearby lake to fill your senses. It's an experience that I can't explain along your taste buds.It is however easy to mess up. The water could be too hot or steeped too long or even too little possibly. I know how to listen to my kettle for those little "gear shifts" in the water. I can hear the water when it gets just hot enough to use. That point right before whistling where it's quiet for about 5-8 seconds before the first whistle. That's the point I pull it off the heat and warm my pot. This tea is nice because I can use less pearls and get the same amount of flavor as a full teaspoon of the usual silver needle. It's economical to sya the least and when you're paying this much for tea it's nice to know that's a factor you can work with in your favor. I found this actually pairs really well with moroccan mint, but not together. I just happened to have about 1/4 of a pot of silver pearl and 1/4 a pot of moroccan mint and so I condensed them into one pot and tried it. The mix was brilliant. I never expected a tea for under 5 dollars for 2 oz's paired so well with a 22 dollar for 2 oz tea. It's got so much play in it to work with. I can't wait to keep experimenting.

This tea is good for relaxing in the evening...it is very light and subtle and I found that adding a bit of rock sugar really smooths out the flavor. So far, I dont think I am much of a white tea fan....I like a bolder flavor in most of my teas...but this one does work well when I am in the mood for something sweet and light. I didnt find it to be sweet alone as some other reviewers have stated...I found I had to add sweetness to it otherwise it just tasted vegetal to me. Since it is so pricey, I probably would not purchase this one again.

I never tried white tea until i started shopping at teavana and came across this product through a recommendation by the associate at the store. so i tried it and was really impressed that it wasn't too sweet or vegetal taste but rather it was calming and light, and has a subtle texture to it. I wouldn't recommend people to buy this tea if they are looking for a "kick" in their tea cup. but if you're looking for a light and subtle texture than you found the right tea.

This tea I've enjoyed again and again. It's a light one, so be careful to that, but the price is worth the taste. It's not too light and has a sweet undertone, I love it.

Now here's a great tea! It tastes very smooth, is enjoyable to make, and is very relaxing. I often use it in a blend with a fruity white tea in a 1:1 ratio. As you have likely seen already, this is a very expensive tea. However, the fact that I traditionally get 4-5 steeps out of this tea makes the pill a little easier to swallow. I would not recommend this tea to a friend SOLEY because of the price.

Although white teas aren't exactly my cup of tea......This is very soothing and relaxing at anytime in the day.
Blends extremely well with spice flavors as well as fruity infusions.
All in all a great addition to anyone's collection.I would have given it a higher score if it was even a little stronger and if it wasn't so touchy when it comes to steep time/temp.

I make the Silver Yin Zhen Pearls using a Breville One-Touch Tea Maker, following the instructions on the package, and serve it without any add-ins. I honestly expected more from the tea, seeing as the price tag is quite high. Like other reviewers mentioned, it tastes quite vegetal, but unlike other reviewers, I could not discern a sweet or honey-like quality. The scent is very earthy. Though I do not like this tea, it does not get sickening and is easy to gulp down without a strong aftertaste. I'd probably mix it with another tea the next time I make it, which shouldn't be horrible seeing as the tea alone is light and meek.

I really wanted to like this tea. I tried it several times, but it is so strongly "vegetal" in taste, that the only way I can drink it now is by mixing it with another tea. It isn't bad when mixed with Dragonwell, but I would certainly not purchase it again.

I prefer teas that are fruity, floral or herbal. This is the first 'straight' tea that I've truly enjoyed. It simply makes me feel good and refreshed. I do add rock sugar for sweetening. And honestly, I just put the pearls in the bottom of a glass mug, add the hot water and sweetener, watch it unfurl and enjoy. Really love this tea.

This is a smooth tasting white tea with a hint of honey that draws you in immediately for another sip. The aroma is wonderfully sweet, then the flavor has vegetal notes that are mellow and delicious. For a green tea choice, I love Jasmine Pearls as a great way to start the morning, so I am glad to now have a comparable morning white tea experience from Teavana. This one is definitely worth the price for me and I hope Teavana keeps producing it because I see this as becoming a regular among my daily choices.

This is the most delicious white tea I've ever had. It's smooth and soothing. It's expensive, but you can brew the same tea over and over again, so you get many more cups of tea out of this than many other teas.
