I've been an Earl Grey fan for well over a decade, and constantly on the search for the perfect blend. This one is up there with the best. I LOVE the strong bergamot flavor! Too many of the bagged varieties taste weak and watery. This one is medium to full-bodied, depending on how much you use per pot, and I appreciate having that flexibility with loose teas.

I was excited to recieve Teavana's Earl Grey because their high-quality greens and whites make my mouth water when thinking about them. When I recieved it, I was averagely pleased. It's tea. For one, I'm almost positive there is NOT OFFICIAL OIL OF BERGAMOT used in this tea, I think it's inferior "bergamot flavoring" which is NOT bergamot oil at ALL. Second, the tea is mostly SHAKE (small, broken pieces, some no bigger than the head of a pin) and the tea goes through the finest of mesh filters. Frankly, it was just... tea. Nothing special. I went to the local Persian market and bought a WHOLE KILO of big-ole, WHOLE LEAF 100% Ceylon black tea with REAL oil of bergamot for $21.50. Don't waste your money.

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Flavored Black Tea:

I have for several years really enjoyed a good Earl Gray tea. I decided to try this to compare to those that I buy in the grocery store. While the tea is actually pretty decent, it is NOT Earl Gray. It smells nice, but there is a nearly imperceptible presence of Bergamot when drinking it. It is just an essentially unflavored black tea, although fairly smooth. Try as I might, I simply can't find any bergamot flavor in it. This would still be a worthy tea, but it just should be renamed to remove any reference to Earl Gray or they should add more bergamot to it.

Best Earl Grey I have ever had. When people ask me about Teavana's I tell them about their great selection of Unique teas but that doesn't really make as big as impression as when I show them my Earl Grey. It is strong and so good it doesn't need lemon but doesn't hurt. I never thought I could smell tea this fresh It's a great pick me up in the morning almost as strong as coffee. I love this tea and I will continue to love my Earl Grey Hot.

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Flavored Black Tea:

As a big fan of Earl Grey, I have tried at least twenty different kinds from numerous sources. This one rates among the worst. I knew I was in for disappointment when I opened the box and the orange bag said "artificial flavor" on it.

Upon opening, the aroma was very strong and smelled like a cheap chemical perfume. When brewed the aroma is far weaker, the taste weak as well. The base tea itself is a rather low quality, all small bits of broken leaves.

Overall it was very disappointing. There are far better Earl Grey's out there. The only good thing about this tea is it's cheap. If you want a high quality Earl Grey, skip this one over.

Used to like this tea, but they have changed it to taste fruity and artificial, so much so that it is undrinkable. Too expensive for the taste. Can do better with Twinnings bags.

I wish Teavana would listen to comments made by their customers about the bergamot flavoring, it is weak, but very aromatic. I think people like
more bergamot oil, NOT ARTIFICAL FLAVORING. Bergamot oil has more flavor

Comments about Teavana Earl Grey Flavored Black Tea:

I purchased this tea after discovering my love for Earl Grey teas. I was really surprised at how good the first cup tasted, but after the first two or three cups, the tea started losing it's flavor. I used my Teavana infuser to make the tea, and the Teavana 6 oz. storage tin for storage. Within a day, the taste of the tea had gone from awesome, to dull and meh. I have been trying to brew it different ways, at different temperatures and for various times; but still no success of getting that flavor I got in my first cup. I will NOT be purchasing this tea again.

I read the reviews (not terrific) and then went to the store in Honolulu. After a discussion I decided to give the 3 Earl Greys a taste test. I am glad I did. I brewed these teas carefully: Use 1 teaspoon of tea per 8oz of water. Heat water to 195-205 degrees (90-96 degrees Celsius) and steep for 2-3 minutes. For stronger flavor, use more tea leaves. 2oz of tea equals 25-30 teaspoons.

This tea, all the Earl Greys, are excellent.
