Description

Known as “Tetsubin” in Japan, cast iron teapots were originally crafted in the mid-17th century for the full leaf teas just coming into popularity. Today, they are admired and collected not only for their intricate designs but also for their ability to brew the perfect pot of tea. Each unique motif has a symbolic meaning that make them wonderful gifts. If cared for properly, Tetsubin can last a lifetime. After use, simply rinse with hot water. Allow to air dry. Do not soak the teapot. The hobnail motif represents strength.

Rusts

By Sam

from Houston, TX

We were very excited to get our tea set home only to be disappointed with it a few days later. After 2 uses, we noticed rust on a trivet we bought out of the same material. Then we started to notice rust on the rim of the pot. We followed the directions given but after we went to return it, they told us we had to dry it after each use and set it a certain way for it to not rust. We were never told that and do not want a pot that is ruined so easily. Not for us.

I really enjoy this little teapot with the built in strainer. Now I have it on a candle warmer and it's even better because it keeps the tea or rewarms it to just the right temperature. I like the charcoal color and texture design. It blends in simply with my design scheme and doesn't add detail where the details would be lost amongst the other things in the kitchen. So it is perfect for me as one person to enjoy her tea!

I like fruity teas and enjoy this tea pot. But every time I pour the tea it drips from the lid. I want a full pot of tea.
