Comments about Teavana Prosperity Koi Cast Iron Teapot:

I was given this teapot in the smaller cast-iron goldfish version, plus trivet, for Christmas. Loved it, except that I wanted the option to brew larger batches of tea and keep my tea hotter. . . I felt a larger pot would do the trick. The moment this teapot went on sale, I exchanged my small one for the larger teapot and bought a warmer with great excitement. Here are some notes on everyday use. . .

      1. This is a heavy teapot! Two hands are a must for a woman's wrists to pour steaming hot tea without spilling.

      2. To keep tea hot, the pot (and cast-iron cups) MUST be pre-warmed with hot water, and a warmer + candle is also a must for keeping tea hot any longer than 10 minutes.

      3. When brewing small batches (3 cups or less) of tea, the water level is very low in this pot. So when my tea is steeping in the bottom of the metal infuser, there is maybe an inch of water swishing around the tea. With loose-leaf tea, which I was told needs lots of room to expand and float around while steeping, it seems that tea leaves are crampt. For a small batch, the tea leaves have very little water surrounding them, which seems to answer why my tea tastes a little weak, even when perfectly following the brewing instructions. The sales lady said, "it's easier to brew small batches of tea in a large pot, than multiple small batches." Makes sense. . . But with small batches in this large pot, the low water level doesn't seem give fluffy tea leaves enough room to fully expand.

      4. Some teas are very fine and don't need as much room to expand. I would recommend choosing one of those less "fluffy" tea to brew in this teapot if you plan to make a small batch. Then, low water-level isn't a problem.

      5. After about 7-10 uses of this pot, as I was rinse-swishing hot water through it and swirling my fingers in the pot, some black enable chipped off around the inner rim where the lid sits. I don't know if that's just part of the aging process, or if that was just some extra enamel that needed to be removed anyways - not a big deal. Just something to be aware of.

Overall, for large batches of tea, pre-warmed, with the tea candle lit and on it's warmer, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this teapot. . . even with its low water-level and heaviness - this pot makes delicious tea and is gorgeous. I will be watching carefully to see if any more enable chips off while I'm gently rinsing! I don't expect it will - but if you like to make lots of tea and share it with friends over a lit tea-candle, this is a wonderful teapot.

Comments about Teavana Prosperity Koi Cast Iron Teapot:

I love my teapot, I use it almost daily. The only down side is that it is not meant to be put on a stove, it a steeper. I also purchased a piece that serves as a stand that you can put a tea light candle in to help keep it warmer longer, but I haven't experienced a little candle keeping an iron cast teapot warm. Overall, great teapot, perfect gift for avid tea drinkers.

Comments about Teavana Prosperity Koi Cast Iron Teapot:

My husband and I were looking for a cast iron teapot and we have always liked the koi fish and the symbolism behind it. We bought the koi fish in black. When we bought the teapot, we ended up getting the stand and a holder for the tealight as well as two cast iron cups. We love it, and use it often. Holds quite a lot of tea and it's great so we don't have to keep refilling it. Love it.

My husband and son presented this beautiful Koi teapot with the dragonfly teacups for my Mothers' Day gift and we use it all the time. We even went and purchased several accessories along with lots of tea! I'm thrilled with the designs and craftsmanship of these products and the teas are wonderful. Experimenting with different teas blended together is fun and it's always a tea party in our house!

I just got this teapot for my birthday (38 and going strong-praise God!). I love the design, how long it keeps my tea warm, and the capacity (40oz-wow!). My son and I are avid tea drinkers and this allows us to have more than 2 cups (1 each). The tetsubin style allows us also to make any tea we desire. Thank you guys for the best gift ever! Family-I love you!
