Hiratsubo Cast Iron Teapot

Description

This exquisitely designed teapot was crafted based on the ancient Japanese tea ceremony teapots but updated with a modern twist. Although it makes a large 44oz (1.3L) of tea, the teapot was made to fit comfortably in two cupped palms, hence the name: hira means palm and tsubo means pot. The lovely recessed lid is an unusual detail found on Japanese teapots. Very limited production. Made in Japan. Hand wash only.

perfect tea pot for a forgetful klutz

By Christina

from papillion, ne

I received the green pot for Christmas and adore it. The huge capacity means that I can sip all day long, and the tealights keep it at a perfect temperature. Washing without soap was a note of consternation; I just rinse it with boiling water and if I've forgotten it overnight, then I swirl with salt to scrub and rinse again. One point to note: always warm this pot with hot water before brewing your tea in it--otherwise the energy from the hot water will work toward warming the pot vice the tea.
