Have owned this kettle for several years....recently broke lid (my own fault)...will be reordering this kettle. Have used it on a gas range for its life, never a problem. The lid recently broke when I was pouring water for a brew with the lid not properly secured. Rated this kettle so high because of material(glass) and also that I can look at the water and gauge the temperature for brewing various teas!!!! Love it!

Glass kettles don't last very long if they are placed directly on an electric heating element on the stove. We went thru several before getting a new stove with a ceramic top. They should have a heavy wire spacer under the kettle to safeguard the pot. If you use the glass kettle on a gas or ceramic stove top it will last longer (unless you boil it dry). The latest has worked perfectly for 2 years so far.

I really liked the clear tea kettle, but I was surprised to find out that there isn't any warranty at all on this tea kettle. The lid broke and there isn't a warranty or even any place to buy a replacement lid. When I spoke to the Customer Service Respresentive they said there isn't any warranty on their products??? He stated that with proper care it would last. I have always hand washed the tea kettle so I feel that I have taken care of it "properly" I would also like to point out that the box the tea kettle came in actually says dish washer safe, which is different from the website!

This tea kettle is beautiful. Beautiful.. and love to be able to see the water warming and the bubbles as it begins to boil. I fell in love with this kettle for it's looks alone, after reading all of the reviews I still couldn't resist purchasing it. I have not had it long, but my fingers are crossed that I may be lucky and not have it crack. My lid fits very snug and does not get hot. I do hold the lid when pouring just to prevent any accidents. I do recommend this beautiful kettle, and purchased it knowing I have been warned! :) Definitely recommend reading all reviews when purchasing anything!!

We bought this after we had rust problems with other tea kettles (not teavana). We love being able to see how much water to put in and watching it boil is beautiful. There are no problems with the lid whatsoever. The water boils very quickly. The only thing missing is it doesn't whistle because the end is an open end but that makes it easy for pouring. The lack of whistle isn't a problem.

It is pretty, except I am purchasing a new one because while at a friends house I accidentally put the heat too high and the bottom completely cracked. It is to boil tea water, it should be strong enough to handle high temperatures so I do not have to boil my water for 30 minutes on low heat.

Only downside is I've gone through 2 of these over 2 years and they both have cracked the same way: Completely random occasions when boiling in same conditions as everyday use. Teavana replaced the 1st time but after 2 years worth of the new kettle, they could not replace it again.

It's a shame, because it is a beautiful tea pot, but I will not be purchasing a 3rd. I was using on a coil heating element stove top.

I LOVED this tea kettle. It was fantastic, then the night before I was leaving on vacation the lid broke. When I returned it took some convincing, but the ladies at my local teavana store replaced the lid. Then several days ago I was boiling some water for tea and since the handle ALWAYS (small burner/medium burner/large burner) gets hot, I was using a potholder and noticed it was wet when I set the kettle back on the stove. There was a crack around the bottom of the handle on the kettle. The store wouldn't replace it this time. :( I'm now on to a stainless steel whistling kettle....... We will see if we like this as time goes on...

I absolutely love this tea kettle! I have had it over a year (using 3-4 days per week) and no problems with breaking or cracking like the other reviewers stated. This IS a glass tea kettle, so obviously caution should be used when hand washing and handling it (duh). I highly recommend this product!
