If enjoy tea, save yourself time, aggravation and money (by poorly prepared tea) and buy Breville One-Touch Tea Maker for yourself now. I kept looking at this at Teavanna for so long, but the price made me pause. This was a huge mistake. I finally made the jump and bought this one touch tea maker… Wow, I never realized just how good and easy great tea was and what I had been missing! Now my tea tastes just like the samples at Teavanna do. (in many years of trying I never even came close)
I drink between one to two jugs of tea every day. It is so VERY EASY and every pot is perfect every time. Why did I ever wait so long??
My only complaint is that the pot is heavy and not the easiest to clean. By not being able to submerge, you really can only rinse it out. But the tea is so absolutely consistently perfect, you learn to work around this.
Do yourself a favor and enjoy drinking your perfect tea and save your time and money and by the Breville One-Touch Tea Maker now.
- Customer Service
- Steep Basket To Coarse
I used to put water on to boil on the stove. From time to time, I would walk away and forget about it and boil away most of a pot of water. Now, I fill the pitcher, add my tea, select the settings, and walk away, knowing that everything will be taken care of. I've been using it for 10 months, making on average 1-2 pitchers per day. Wishing there was a less coarse steep basket available, as I don't like finding tea leaves between my teeth. Overall, a great machine, but still a bit on the expensive side. I paid $200, but feel the perfect price point would be about $150. Breville customer service is a little terse in their responses; not a lot of openness to customer requests or inquiries - just quick, short, poorly worded (perhaps from off-shore) responses, that don't leave me feeling like they care too much.
- Ease of Use
- Easy to use
- High Quality
We were going to wait to buy a tea pot at a later date but my previous pot died and I figured with as much as I drink tea and now the rest of my family we should probably upgrade, so I went ahead and splurged on this very nice tea pot which I can use to make multiple different teas with the hot water setting and when its just me the perfect infusion makes it, well, perfect. I am not disappointed by this product and the high expected performance that it is putting out. and it's so easy to use that I don't have to show my friends how to use it they can just start it if they want. my 7 year old can use it too :D
- Easy to use
The Breville automatic tea maker changed my life. I spent a fortune on my espresso machine last year and I use it once a day only for my morning coffee. Since the day I bought the Breville tea maker, I've been using it daily, both morning and evening, with 2 or 3 brews of the same tea in the evening.
To the reviewer who said that the basket rusts - NO, IT DOES NOT! It's the natural stains from the tea. Just immerse the basket in lemon water for a few minutes and the rusty coloured stains will disappear. Same for the glass pot - it gets brown after a few uses but you can run a cleaning cycle (read the instructions) by putting some white vinegar or lemon juice in the pot along with water and your tea maker will shine like new.
This is very expensive but well worth the price.
I love the autotimer feature. I'm someone that likes to sleep until the last possible moment and with this feature I can just set it up before I go to bed and wake up to a nice cup of tea to take with me (the min. 2 cup makes the perfect travel mug size cup of tea). This feature alone will save me a lot since I won't have to go to the coffee house after I get to work for a morning coffee or latte.
The flavor is great. Best home brewed tea I have ever had. It's also nice that it automatically keeps the tea warm for an hour after (although not as warm as I like after about 15 minutes) and the display will tell how long the tea has been brewed and has a countdown timer while brewing and will show the water temperature while heating up. The custom brew time and temps are great features as well (although it only allows the temperature to be at 205 or 212 when I want to make tea that teavanna recommends a 208 setting for, but no problems with it set at 205). The teaspoon that comes with it is a nice accessory. The spoon, lid and basket are all dishwasher safe which is another plus.
Reasons I am giving it four instead of five stars:
1. You can't brew a single cup, min is 2 cups. That is fine in the morning since it makes a perfect travel cup size but at night sometimes I only want an 8 oz cup of tea and not 16.
2. The glass pot can't be submersed in water. You can only wipe the outside and it makes cleaning it a little bit of a pain. And be sure nothing happens to the pot, because it's my understanding if you break it or it cracks you can't buy a new pot, you have to buy a whole new machine (that is the biggest drawback for me).
3. The keep warm feature doesn't keep the tea very warm. If I get a second cup after more than 10 minutes or so, I have to throw the cup in the microwave for a few seconds. I wish it would keep it at the brew temperature.
4. You can't set the temp. at 208. My favorite teas have a recommended 208 temp. I use 205 with no issues, but seeing Teavana sells a lot of teas that call for a 208 temp it would be nice if this machine they sell has that setting.
The Breville One Touch Tea Maker brews completely perfect tea effortlessly! I use it all day, every day. Now, tea is so fast easy to serve I don't know how I got along without the Breville. This machine is a secret to making consistently delicious, amazing teas for health and enjoyment.
- Hard to clean
- Infuser Basket Rusted
- Needs To Be Handwashed
At first, this was the greatest thing since sliced bread for me. But after about 25 uses, I noticed that the infuser basket has rusted and after just a couple of uses, the stainless steel inside the pot became stained. The materials appear to be poor quality.
Do yourself a favor: you can save roughly $220 by just buying one of the Teavana tea tumblr mugs with the individual tea basket. And if you're making more that one serving at a time, you can get a cast iron tea pot with an infuser basket.
This was not worth the money I paid for it. :(
I made a major impulse purchase by buying this tea maker without even being a big tea drinker. I am now converted and my day is not complete without my tea (maharaja chai/samurai chai blend is my favorite). The best part about this tea maker is the preset option. I set it up each night and have perfect tea, hot and ready each morning. The ONLY negative thing I would say about this product is that it only keeps tea warm for an hour after brewing. I wish it would stay warm for at least 2 hours. That's my only *small* complaint.
Bravelle makes great products and this one is no exception, but you will pay for the quality. I bought this and it has been great thus far.

I'm not going to lie- for a while the price stunned me too. It always sat in the box looking new and fresh, waiting for me to tell my wallet to man up, and I drooled over it many times looking at the shiny clean glass, all of the buttons and metal finishings, and for a period of months on end when the One Touch had my attention I would debate with myself and most commonly just argue over this single question: "Is it worth the money?"
I have to tell you that the answer entirely depends on what your money is worth. I bought it for myself with vested courage and on nothing more than a whim after eyeing it up and down for a year. I am here, typing this to tell you I waited too long, far too long.
I went from hating tea to Teavana turning me into an adoring fan of what they call tea when I was randomly dragged unceremoniously into a store by a friend and sampled teas upon their demand. The Breville was not my first tea tool purchase, but it should have been.
I have since fallen in love with the history and the variety of tea I can find all over the world and internet, and I enjoy the amount of cultural influence that brings tea close to people and feelings in a variety of different ways but let me be frank- these are new loves based on idle thoughts and my life is anything but idle. I don't have tea times, parties, or any other scheduled indulgence; whatever I plan it needs to mesh with the crazy schedule I already keep. For this convenience, lack of effort needed, perfect temperature always, and the ability to wake up in the morning with tea made before my brain even has the willpower to function not only should I have bought this sooner, but it would have kept me from wasting teas that I messed up making during my rookie period. I have found my investment to be invaluable and the cost negligible to the benefits.
Things the box will not tell you:
-It looks like tron when it lights up
-It has a high pitched beep to announce that the tea is done, but while it is startling enough to get your attention it won't wake anyone else up in the same household
-All temperatures are customize-able within 5 degrees
-Take time to read the instructions. You can clean it just by using a lemon and you can troubleshoot, and easily learn to set up the autostart feature (but beware that there is a sensor in the kettle so that you can not set up the auto start or make tea/boil water without water in there)
-It has a one hour shut off for safety. Breville knows you want a product that lasts for a while- the last thing you want is a glass kettle to boil dry. You want it for longer, all you have to do is press a "Keep warm" button once an hour
-Do not let already steeped liquid sit for long periods of time or tannins will build up and turn the shiny stainless steel base of your kettle brassy. I rinse mine out after every use. No flavor ever transfers.
-After using mine for months the glass has never stained
-The glass is very durable; I am a klutz and tend to bang around my teawares unintentionally with normal use
-Water takes 5 minutes to boil; you have tea in less than 10 unless you have some crazy steeping time going on.
-This is an appliance, it needs proper care like all machinery does. You will need to clean it once in a while and use it properly. It enables laziness, not stupidity.
-The electrical base is very short (1-1 1/2 foot max) and you need to have it as close to a plug as possible. Because of my setup I purchased a surge protector elsewhere so that I could relocate it to some place more convenient.
-I can make tea and enjoy it while doing anything and everything else in my home
-I have tea ready in the morning so that I can enjoy it on my daily commute
-I don't have to worry about cleaning pots, cups, coasters, strainters, etc.
-I can make whatever tea I like in whatever order I want because it doesn't retain flavor
-The base does not get hot or collect moisture. The area on my counter around it is always clean and undamaged.
-I do not have to worry, stress, anticipate, or pay attention to how my tea is brewing
-I know that my tea will taste the same, the way it is supposed to in the highest quality possible every single time
-I can now enjoy tea multiple times a day and indulge more of this as a hobby
-I feel better with my tea while doing other things
Overall if the price scares you, then I highly suggest you do as I have and make a list of what you need and then come back and look at what this product can provide. If your experience is anything like mine you will be more than pleasantly surprised- you will be in awe of how awesomely spent your money was.
