I bought 10lbs and I'll buy more
Absolutely delicious. It brings tea-drinking to a whole new level - it enhances the natural flavours and complexities of tea. I've bought 10lbs and I'll buy more once that supply depletes.

When most people try Teavana for the first time, it is in the Teavana shops. In the Teavana shops, the sample tea is, in fact, sweetened with German Rock Sugar.
However, I have tried for months to perfect my tea blends. thinking that the samples in the Teavana store are unparalleled - I figured I needed the German Rock Sugar to perfect their taste, as recommended by a Teavana employee.
So, I bought a pound of this tasty delight and added it to my tea. It made a very subtle difference in the flavor profile. A difference not nearly worth the price, as it was hardly noticeable.
The tea loser that I am, I ran a tea tasting test. A tea sweetened with German Rock Sugar vs. it's placebo counterpart. Nine times out of ten, no one noticed a difference.
Personally, I either sweeten my tea with Honey, or just straight up cane sugar.

Before discovering Teavana, I would use honey in my teas (I have never liked the taste of cane sugar in my tea). And while I like honey, it was always the flavor you taste, no matter the tea. Since discovering the German Rock Sugar, nothing else will satisfy! It is AWESOME!! It really does let the flavor of the tea shine through - enhancing rather than overpowering.

This is the perfect way to enhance the flavor of your tea!! I'll use about half a teaspoon or so for the first brew, then a teaspoon for the second brew with my favorite teas. Its as if the taste from the first brew to the second and third haven't changed! (In quality I mean. Different brews, for oolong and such, usually change in taste slightly.) :)
Perfect for all teas and is never over sweet!
Pros
- Excellent taste
- High Quality
- No after taste
Cons
Best Uses
- For Anything
I quite enjoy this rock sugar. It does a perfect job without being too sweet. Teavana rock sugar does not taste artificial or have an aftertaste like cheaper brands.
I use this rock sugar for tea, coffee and other drinks that need a bit of sweetening. Its even good as a sweet treat on its own!
It stores well.

I was puzzled how normal Tropical sugarcane sugar could possibly grow in a cold temperate climate like Germany's. So I found out this is made from redbeets/ beetroot. This is why it tastes better, it is unprocessed from a sweet root vegtable, not a grass like refined sugarcane. It looks so beautiful too, I love to have it exposed on display in a glass dish with a spoon for my guests. Everyone is intrigued by it and asks me about it.

To be honest, I don't put it in my tea. I eat it plain and it's pure delicious sugar.

This Rock Sugar is superb! It's not overly sweet (like some sugars can be)... And it's got a nice rounded flavor, so it doesn't ruin the tea's taste. It's perfectly sweet!

I bought just a quarter pound of the rock sugar to try. I am not going to use anything else in my Teavana tea! These refined teas take a light touch of sweetness (if at all).

I drink GALLONS of hot tea every day, and all kinds, but I am partial to my plain old English breakfast tea for the convenience, as I do drink tea almost exclusive of any other beverage. I like my tea with just some skim milk, but lately I have found myself with a bitter aftertaste late in the day. I began using this fantastic sugar, just one tiny rock in each cup, and it has brought my beloved tea back to the soothing and refreshing cuppa I have always treasured. Please try it, it doesn't need to be alot, just a touch, and you will lose any bitterness without adding sickening sweetness. This is sugar for grownups!
