I'm trying to give up coffee, since I find it makes me agitated...but since I also need a morning pick-me-up, I've been drinking mate instead. I do find that it is a much gentler "buzz" than a coffee buzz.
I do enjoy mate straight but was curious about Teavana's mate blends, and thought that this seemed like a good entry-point. It did not disappoint. A five minute steep in my french press, and it was just perfect: a warm, malty, faintly nutty sort of blend, much more "coffee like" than very, very "green" tasting straight mate (I LIKE straight mate, but it can be a bit like drinking mowed grass).
My only complaint is that it did not seem to hold up very well to a second steep, which surprised me as straight mate usually holds up for several brewings and Teavana teas in general take repeating steepings very well. I might try steeping it eight minutes next time on the second steep tomorrow, and see if that helps.

You need a taste for this tea to enjoy it. Some things just aren't for certain people. This one wasn't for me but I've had other friends who love it. I always mixed it with almond biscotti black tea since the mate vana alone just didn't have enough flavor for me but perhaps that's my fault for having such an affinity for rooibos teas and flavored greens. It's an acquired taste for others and it grew on me a little bit but overall i think I'll gift my remaining stock to my friends that love it. Makes a great gift for those who really like it.

I work to stay away from coffee (it upsets my stomach). But, I do love that "wake me up" jolt I get from that first cup in the morning. A friend introduced me to Mate. Mate Vana is the ultimate indulgence for me. Chocolate, nuts, that wake me up jolt and no upset tummy. What could be better? Yes, I add a smidgen of sugar and a dash of cream to mine in the morning. It is like waking up with a cup full of dessert. I highly recommend this if you are working to transition from coffee.

This mate is nice. It's similar to My Morning Mate - not identical, of course, but similar. I enjoy it a lot. It smells a little like coffee and has a slight hint of that taste without being bitter at all. I can't stand coffee but I love this tea.

I love this tea first thing in the morning. It is very strong with a lot of caffeine, two things that I like about this tea. It has a great taste, and is both sweet and fragrant. I find that it is best served hot and is best when sweetened. I use stevia extract. It is easy to brew and does not get bitter if steeped for long periods.

I always loved the taste of coffee but for some reason it would always give me sour stomach, but I don't have to pass up on the coffee/chocolatey flavor anymore thanks to Matevana. This product is a great morning tea and mixes well with straight black teas (I mix mine with Copper Knot). It also taste great with cream, namely french vanilla or caramel flavored creams usually mixed with coffee. A fantastic morning tea!

I visited a TeaVana store and the guy at the counter really thought that mixing these two flavors would be awful and not only did he like it but the next time I went in to the store a different sales person actually suggested it as a new flavor combo!! AND it curbs your appetite with the slender tea!! Now I save the gas and have it autoshipped and never go without my morning pick me up!!

I am a huge coffee drinker, so when I went into Teavana looking for tea my requests were simple: I need caffeine in a nutty tea. I took this tea home, and fell in love. My mother, who isn't even much of a tea drinker, adores this tea. It's a must have!

I had to give up coffee cause it caused muscle inflammation so I tried this. I just drank once this morning and so far I really think its good. Although I will drink this just as a dessert or a treat for myself in the morning. Its got a smooth taste, I wish it was a bit more strong.I would definitely recommend people to at least try once.

I have been searching for a tea for morning- I like to have a strong tea with a bit of cream and sugar. After trying a few other blends, I finally found it in this tea. I LOVE the flavor. I dont really like coffee, never have, so I was a bit concerned with the description stating it has a coffee flavor. I do not find that at all in the flavor of the tea. I am experimenting with how strong I like it by using different amounts for brewing. I think I will try to mix this with a nice black tea, but really, on its own, its very enjoyable. The flavor is deep and rich without being bitter. I purchased a small amount to try, but once I run out I am definitely getting a large stock of this to have on hand.

Reading through the online reviews, I wanted a cheaper tea as I shop at Teavana WAY too much (currently have about 11 different teas in my cabinet). My Morning Mate (MMM) ran out and read that this MateVana (MV)was better than the MMM. WRONG! MV has nothing over MMM. Quite disappointed to have bought this as even though this is very smooth in comparison to MMM, it's flat... really flat chocolate. I tend to mix this one in the morning with Honeybush Vanilla, and still not that happy with it.
Pros about MV over MMM is that if you steep it longer than 5 min it doesn't get bitter... still stays quite smooth, so you can easily mix a more bitter tea (Earl Gray Creme) with it and it will mask the bitterness from oversteeping if that does so happen.
Cons about MV over MMM is that it doesn't have a dynamic pallet to it like the MMM. Don't try to save $1.00, just buy the MMM.
