This is one of Teavana's best and certainly one of the best green teas I have ever had, and I've tried a lot!
Yes, it's pricey but well worth it if you are searching for a really good quality green tea. And you can get up to 3-4 infusions from the same set of leaves so that helps offset the price, in my opinion.
As other reviewers have said, how you prepare this tea is CRITICAL to how it comes out. DO NOT boil the water and use water of a relatively low temperature. The hot water option in the water cooler in my office is perfect and I'd guess that it's around 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit. Let it steep for about 40 seconds, no more than 45.
The aroma is great~both in the container and once it's brewed. I'd describe it as a strong tasting green tea, but it's still very light as all green teas are. The taste is vegetal and green and may not be the best choice for someone who has never tried a green tea before. Starting with the Sencha might be a better option.
I like it best without any sweetener or milk. It has a sweet-ish taste of its own that would be lost if any other kind of sweetener were used.
I can't say enough good things about this tea. If you are a lover of excellent green teas, you will not be disappointed with this one.

This is the most I have ever paid for a Teavana tea, so I was naturally expecting an amazing drink to come of it. I certainly understand where Gyokuro-lovers are coming from--this is a unique tea with a strong, full flavor--but it didn't suit my taste nor my expectations. I prefer light, sweet green teas, but this was bitter, full, and almost wholly unpleasing to drink. I'll have to try steeping it as described by the above reviewer who found a 1/2 teaspoon to be more appropriate. And although I was confused at first by a different reviewer's choice of the word "meaty," I believe this is the only tea I have ever tried which may actually elicit the use of such a word.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
I lived in Japan for a year and green tea was probably the most common thing I drank there other than water. This tea brings back the best memories of my time there. It has a lovely, clean fragrance and a light flavor, not at all bitter unless it is steeped too long. My only complaint about this tea is that the cost means that drinking it every day could serious damage your wallet.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
Didn't like this tea at first. But i wasn't making it correctly. Used to get the Lemon Green, then it was discontinued. The store clerk suggested this as a replacement. Much more expensive, but much better quality! And it goes a long way. I'm not a hot drink fan. I use an iced tea maker put 3 Tbls of tea, 1 Tbs of Sugar - then brew TWICE. refrigerate & DRINK ALL DAY! Makes over 6 quarts of tea!

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
This is the most I ever spent on tea. It was well worth it though. The quality is the best of any green I ever had. So much flavor and very bold the way I like it.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
My only prior experience with green tea has been the grocery store type, which I hate and have to mask heavily (I drink it for health purposes). I decided to try this tea after a [*] sales pitch, and BOY was I surprised! This tea is heavenly, with a sort of delicate sweet vegetable vibe which I find delightful. It's so far removed from what I have been used to that it may as well be from a different planet. It was so refreshing and wholesome tasting that I was tempted to eat the leaves when I was done (okay, I did eat them). A remarkable spring-fresh liquid treat!

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
Such a wonderful tea to have during any time of day. A great way to refresh your mind and body. I drank a lot of green tea during my time as an exchange student in Japan. Ever since I've been back home, I've had a hard time finding green tea that had the same amazing taste as the kind in Japan. My mom bought Gyokuro Imperial for me as a gift, and I fell in love with it the moment I tasted it. Not only does it taste great, but it also has many health benefits.

This tea is one of my favorites! The color of the tea is this amazing neon green; not only delicious but fun to drink! The flavor reminds me of a green tea latte, with a slightly sweet finish. All around a great green tea!

This is a great tea! I have tried both the powdered and loose leaf varieties and they are wonderful...I do not add anything to them, just like them plain. They're great!

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
A Teavana store recently opened in our local shopping mall. With my most recent trip, my 8 year old daughter asked when I was going to buy "good green tea" (Yes my 2nd grader likes green tea and recently we discussed upgrading to loose leaf tea). So we stopped in and asked for a recommendation. I was a bit shocked at the price, but the holidays were made for spending money and I am very glad I did.
I may be overly enthralled considering before this we used tea bags, but I love this tea. We generally brew a pot just after dinner and sip for about half an hour. My daughter even started clearing the table without being asked, just so I would start brewing a few minutes earlier.
Over the past week, we served it to several dinner guests and compiled the following: The flavor is strong for green tea, but not strong enough to impress a black tea drinker. The aroma is extremely pleasant and brings a sense of calm after a rough day. It is a favorable replacement to the after diner coffee- no evening caffeine jitters. It taste and smells wonderful regardless of it being hot or cold.
Everyone asked for a second cup.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
This is a fantastic tea, can't afford it all the time, but when I want to treat myself, this is it. It also makes a great gift. It is one of the smoothest greeg teas I've ever had, as long as you keep the temp right I think. Love it! Great for someone just getting into drinking green tea.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
This is such a great tea, it also makes a great gift because of it reputation for being expensive and high class. It does have an earthy taste but this is a high quality tea that has smooth flavor. It took a couple cups to get used to but now I can't live without it. Highly recommended.
