This is one of Teavana's best and certainly one of the best green teas I have ever had, and I've tried a lot!
Yes, it's pricey but well worth it if you are searching for a really good quality green tea. And you can get up to 3-4 infusions from the same set of leaves so that helps offset the price, in my opinion.
As other reviewers have said, how you prepare this tea is CRITICAL to how it comes out. DO NOT boil the water and use water of a relatively low temperature. The hot water option in the water cooler in my office is perfect and I'd guess that it's around 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit. Let it steep for about 40 seconds, no more than 45.
The aroma is great~both in the container and once it's brewed. I'd describe it as a strong tasting green tea, but it's still very light as all green teas are. The taste is vegetal and green and may not be the best choice for someone who has never tried a green tea before. Starting with the Sencha might be a better option.
I like it best without any sweetener or milk. It has a sweet-ish taste of its own that would be lost if any other kind of sweetener were used.
I can't say enough good things about this tea. If you are a lover of excellent green teas, you will not be disappointed with this one.

This is the most I have ever paid for a Teavana tea, so I was naturally expecting an amazing drink to come of it. I certainly understand where Gyokuro-lovers are coming from--this is a unique tea with a strong, full flavor--but it didn't suit my taste nor my expectations. I prefer light, sweet green teas, but this was bitter, full, and almost wholly unpleasing to drink. I'll have to try steeping it as described by the above reviewer who found a 1/2 teaspoon to be more appropriate. And although I was confused at first by a different reviewer's choice of the word "meaty," I believe this is the only tea I have ever tried which may actually elicit the use of such a word.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
This is such a great tea, it also makes a great gift because of it reputation for being expensive and high class. It does have an earthy taste but this is a high quality tea that has smooth flavor. It took a couple cups to get used to but now I can't live without it. Highly recommended.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
I noticed that many marked this as bitter or too srong. It is a very light to medum green tea. You can not over steep it and this green tea is even more delicate than most. I usualy steep it for less than a minute.
It is also great for multiple steepings (I usually get 3-4). It may be expensive but it lasts a while if you don't continue to over steep it.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
A refreshing tea that I could enjoy at any time of day—though I prefer drinking this one in the mornings as I respond very strongly to caffeine. While I would describe the flavor strength as medium, there is something bold there I can't really describe. This is by no means a bad thing. The tea has more of a vegetal and darker taste than most green teas; I could compare this tea to that that is found in gourmet Japanese restraunts. I wouldn't knock this one until you've tried it. Some people love it, and others aren't so keen. (a word of advice: follow brewing instructions EXACTLY. Green tea is very easy to burn or over-steep. Be careful and experiment to see what you like.)

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
I'm not the biggest green tea drinker but this particular green tea is wonderful. I wouldn't steep this for more than 45 seconds though because you dont want to burn the tea leaves and get a gross bitter taste! I would recommend this tea to just about anyone.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
I asked for a good green tea and one employee recommended this one. I was impressed with the beautiful and bright green leaves of this tea. Found it pricey, however when I prepared it at home I knew it is one of the finest green teas I have had. The smell is like fresh grass and green vegetables and so the exquisite flavor. With a tea like this it is so important to be gentle on the temperature as well as with the brewing time ( less than a minute ). This tea makes me happy and peaceful !

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
I thought this tea was excellent. It had a strong flavor for a green tea, but what I liked most about it was the slightly sweet aftertaste that became apparent on the 2nd and 3rd brews with the same leaves.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
This tea is nothing if not unique. When I first took in the aroma of this tea, my immediate thought was vegetal. Specifically, I thought of boiled greens (e.g., turnip greens) or lima beans. The color is almost a neon green and the taste is mildly sweet with lingering notes of grass.
It is very important that you do not use boiling water when brewing this tea. Let the water cool for a couple of minutes if using a kettle. I would say 150 degrees is ideal. Hit the leaves with a quick burst of water and run it off immediately. This serves to wake up the flavor. Brew for 35-45 seconds on the first steep and increase that time a touch each time you re-steep.
This tea is not for everyone and I sincerely think it is more for the purist like myself who prefers to drink tea without sweeteners. That being said, it is very approachable but I think it is safe to say that it would lose something if you tried to sweeten it. Please take this with a grain of salt as I have already said that this is my preferred way to drink any tea.

This is the ideal tea to drink instead of those canned energy drinks. It brightens up the day and inspires the mind. You can't beat it for an afternoon pick me up.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
I;m not a huge green tea fan, and the first sip of this tea made my senses tingle. The vegetal and sweet edamame-like taste was superceded by strong umami that lingered after drinking. No wonder this stuff is so expensive.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
I hesitated to spend [$] on 2 oz of tea, but I'm glad I did. This is the best tasting green tea I've have ever had. You can use it 5 times so that brings the cost more in line with other teas. I will definitely get this tea again and again.
