What’s In Your Iced Tea?
- Summer is a time to take advantage of hotter temperatures but spending time outdoors can mean you are reaching for the most convenient thirst-quencher. Our master teaologist, Naoko, examines the quality of pre-prepared, pre-packaged tea.
- Bagged tea is generally filled with mass-produced grade tea fannings. These fannings are comprised of leaves and stems all processed together. This process is called CTC method or crush-tear-curl method.
- Bottled tea contains more than just tea leaves – high fructose corn syrup, preservatives and coloring agents. The tea quality can be bitter or harsh and the brew can be too sweet.
