The tea maker is great when working! I get dependent on it and love it then it breaks! I am on #3...and this time only lasted 2 weeks.
The pros- brews perfect tea, never bitter! Huge time saver. Start it when I get up, walk the dog, get back and...Heaven- a hot pot of perfect tea waiting!!!
The cons- infuser does not drain. Esp. this last one a quarter inch of old tea. Have to soak/ "mop" up w/ paper towels. The teapot does drip. Lighted measuring guide stops working.
Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
Like a lot of users, my teapot leaks WAY too much and makes a mess whenever I pour the water or tea. I'm also disappointed that there isn't a beeper to let you know when the tea is done. And it would be nice if the settings (temp/time) were customizable. Still... It's the best on the market!

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
I have to say that I agree with what EVERYONE is saying (both good and bad). There are a few simple things that could have been incorporated that weren't, which is a real head-scratcher (hot plate, manual programming, recurring auto-start, too many steps to start brewing, etc...). It would also be nice if we could adjust the programs as well! And it does leak (A LOT!)... Also probably twice as expensive as it really should be!

I use the FineT maker at least once a day. It's worth every penny.

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
I've just returned my second one - same problems. The infuser refuses to drain completely so you have to dump over the entire unwieldy machine. Ridiculous for something of this cost. The teapot itself is a dripping nightmare. I see all the other positive reviews and wonder why I received two bad ones but obviously there's some inconsistency in the manufacturing and design.
The service from Teavana was also a problem. It took a lot of follow up to get them to replace the first unit. Quicker though on round two.

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
I use the Gourmet Tea Maker everyday and thoroughly enjoy the tea that it produces. I have made white, green, black, herbal and mate teas and they come out perfectly! I go totally by the settings on the programmer for the brewing time and temperature suggested for the type of tea. The booklet that comes with it is excellent at explaining how to use the machine. One thing that the comments on here neglect to mention is that the brewing times can be increased or decreased for infusions after the first infusion is complete. I make one infusion and set the timer and adjust the brewing time for the second infusion usually about two hours later when we are ready for our second cup. I usually make three cups which is perfect for two regular- sized mugs. The lighted measuring guide on the machine is very easy to see. It also has a tea wash feature. After using this machine for about a month, I still find it enjoyable to use. I would highly recommend this for the convenience and quality of the tea results!

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
I've had my tea maker for just over a year now and make 2 - 3 16 oz. pots per day. I use an insulated 16 oz. mug and since the hot plate only keeps tea warm for 30 minutes there's no point in making a larger pot. It always brews a perfect cup of tea - never bitter. While it would be nice to pick the temp and time separately, the choices are fine and always result in a great cup of tea. This machine is a huge time saver. No more watching over a pot of water to get the perfect temp, or timing the steeping of your leaves.
My biggest complaint is the infusion chamber drips onto the hotplate when I remove the teapot -- it didn't do this when new. Also when programming a start time for delayed brewing, I wish it would remember the prior time and let you adjust from there instead of resetting to 12:00 every time.

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
We used to have a Zarafina unit (went through two of those) and upgraded to this a year ago. It is pricey, but if you drink and collect tea as much as we do, it's worth it. I have only 3 very minor complaints, to go along with others before me. The first being a lack of the ability to set your own time/temp. Second is the sticking my infuser basket seems to do, despite repeated cleaning. It has never just snapped right open when pushing the release button after the first month of use. We have to push the button and pull out the basket. Last, I'd also like to have the warmer plate time be a selection instead of a flat 30 minutes. I don't use my pot to fill the reservoir, I pour from a filtered pitcher, so the complaint about dripping doesn't concern me. I also don't think it's too big. Anyone with a coffee maker or blender on their counter would find this to be of similar size. I have a really tiny kitchen and it doesn't take up an unusual amount of room.

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
I hardly ever review anything, but since i'm here anyway :) Ok, so ever since buying this machine, our local Teavana "teaologists" definitely see more of me lately. This machine is great for making my mates in the morning, and herbals anytime though I have not tried it with a more delicate pure white or green tea yet. I would have rated this machine at a 5, but I would really LOVE to be able to change the temp/infusion time because it doesn't match the teavana recommendations. Still EXCELLENT tasting tea, but I would like to be able to tweak it a bit for more sensitive teas, etc. I am a techie, so the programming was a snap for me, but I can see that it would be a little tricky for others though READING THE MANUAL all the way through helps. I was so anxious to try the machine I'll admit I put the tea in the wrong place at first and i'm still finding leaves in there, lol. Nothing on the machine, but the manual is decent enough that if you read it you will be fine. I absolutely LOVE programming this to wake up to a nice cup of tea in the morning, then I take the spare to work (I brew approx. 600ml per morning). The only downside so far is that it leaks when I take the pot out too quickly and the use of water to clean the machine seems over the top. It's not very conservative on water if you use many different teas and like to clean the machine first, but if you use similar teas it's not a problem. Other than that I will continue to live a healthy life-style with tea, and make it with the Fine T machine!

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
I thought at first it was too pricey. But once it was on my kitchen counter, with my first cup in hand, well...there was no more feelings of remorse. I love it. I set it up the night before as my morning's can be rushed. What a perfect cup of tea to wake up to, and I am very fussy about how my tea is prepared.

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
Everything about it just couldn't get any better. I looks good too. Makes tea that tastes like the free samples at the store. I just love the teapot except the lids a little hard to get off. The way the infuser swings out is just unbelievable, however it is pricey.

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
I tried this unit as I thought it would be so neat to be able to delay start the brewing and have tea waiting for me in the morning when I get up. Since my morning blend is Mate Vana/Rooibos Tropica I could brew it at the highest temp on the unit(even though those two teas should be brewed at 208, the highest temp on the unit is 205..close enough). What I did NOT like about this unit. (1) The hot plate only stays on for 1/2 hr. So, say you brew the tea for 6am, but sleep until 7 or so('cause you slept through your alarm!)by the time you get to your tea, it's cold. After you brew the tea, it stays warm on its own WITHOUT a heater for that long, you need a warmer that keeps your tea warm longer especially if you brew a big pot. I think you should be able to set a timer for how long you want the hot plate to be hot.(2) I didn't like that with this unit there are only TWO temps to brew at...165 or 205. The variable on this unit is the TIME, not the temp. Anyone who brews countless types of teas KNOWS that it's the TEMPERATURE that's most critical!! (3) Once you brew a pot of tea, if you are going to brew a DIFFERENT type of tea, you have to run the cleaning cycle in order to get the residual tea out of the brew basket area. In Southern California, that's a waste of precious water. The only other way to get the residual tea out of the brew basket is to dump the whole unit over. In case you hadn't noticed in the picture of the unit, it's pretty unwieldy and quite difficult to maneuver.(4) It's HUGE and takes up a LOT of room on the counter. I think this unit needs to go through a re-design with consultation from serious tea enthusiasts so they get it right. It's a nice attempt, but SO NOT WORTH THE[$] price tag!!! I also have a Zojirushi water boiling unit at work that I use w/ the Teavana teamaker, and I LOVE THAT SO MUCH MORE. I will keep my eye out for an auto tea brewer that truly does what I want it to do. SAVE your money, and wait for that "cutting edge technology" to get better and make this machine the TRULY "ELITE MACHINE" worth the price tag!!

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
The teapot dosent leak if you poor slowly and evenly there is not a drop spilled. The basket is very easy to clean and the lid is not hard to get off(just dont use the finger grips they are wasted). It makes it very easy to make tea and easier to work three cups into my mornnig routine due to the delayed brew timer.
On the down side I really wish there had been a setting that allowed you to change the brew temp and steep time manually. That single feature would have made this the best machine I have seen and would have led to absolutely no buyers remorse.

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
So, after countless trips to Teavana here in Wisconsin, and a horrendously large amount of tea, I finally decided to buy this. As I've told other people, it's probably not worth it if you don't see yourself amassing a large amount of tea, but if tea is what you love, you won't regret it for a second. It took me about 6 months to decide to purchase it (about a year or so after I started buying tea) and once I set it up (a breeze, by the way, no complicated set-up here!) I actually had to utter, "Where have you been all my life?" The only thing I have anywhere close to a "complaint" is that you can tell it wasn't made exclusively for Teavana since the tea settings aren't the same as Teavana's suggestions, but it's easy enough to figure out what setting goes with what tea. The timer feature is absolutely amazing - tea in the morning without having to brew it yourself. Who'd have thought?

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
This has totally transformed my tea consumption. I am a stay-at-home mom and never had the time to brew a good cup of tea. Now, I can! At night, I program for the morning pot, and my tea is perfectly brewed and patiently waiting for me. It makes the second infusion of leaves easier. I find with this feature, I truly get my moneys worth out of the more expensive teas.
It does have some design flaws as stated in a previous review. I have found just holding a towel under the pot spout and pouring while holding it higher prevents major drips. The top to the infusion basket is difficult to remove. I use my fingernail to lift up. But, these flaws are easily forgotten once the perfectly-brewed tea is sipped.
One tip: I place the rock sugar in the tea pot so that when the infused tea is released, it dissolves into a wonderfully sweetened pot of tea.
An amazing story: My coffee-addicted husband has given up coffee since he began drinking the tea made in this maker. I think that says it all about this machine...a modern miracle.

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
The Gourmet T Maker don't work correctly in program 1, 2, and 3 because the water don't reach the 205°F (I checked with my thermometer and it just reach 194°F), I tried in 3 different plugs and also in my office and my home, but still not work properly.

Wonderful Tea Maker!! Worth the money!! Teapot drips like most tea pots but, not even hardly worth mentioning!

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
There are several design flaws.
1.) When pouring water from the teapot into the unit the teapot drips.
2.) The infusion basket has a sharp edge. I've nicked myself twice.
3.) It is nearly impossible to get a good enough finger grip on the infusion basket lid to lift it.
4.) And now, the sensor showing that the teapot is correctly placed on the base no longer works.
There is no way to reset the unit and override this error message. So, essentially the unit will not operate. All this and the unit has only been used for two months. I called customer service and they will get back to me in 48 hours. I'm not a satisfied customer today.

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
All the reviews I read about this tea pot were great. The only problem is this tea pot was made to work at sea level where water boils at a higher temperature. When I fill the pot it just boils until it runs out of water. I thought I might just be defective so I returned it and received another one which does the same thing. I would not recommend this if you live two thousand feet or more above see level.

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
I just got my tea maker for Christmas. I love it! I used to have tea infuser and timer, spent too much time on making one cup of tea. My family was making fun on me when I was setting the timer to cool down water to proper temperature. Now I don't have to do that anymore. I just add tea to the tea maker and some water, choose a right program and go. Wonderful. One thing I would add is the ability to set your own temperature and timer, other than that - just great!

Comments about Teavana Gourmet Tea Maker:
In my past experience, if the temperature for the tea was too high or too low, if I brewed my teas too long or too short, the teas tended to get bitter or not enough flavor. With this machine, even the most delicate Green Tea and White Tea, all turn out great. The machine presets the time and temperature based on each type of tea. It is carefree, easy to use, with a sophisticated computerized mind of its own. Fantastic! A tea master at my finger tip!
I am setting up another pot for 6 O'clock with my friends. You are invited!
