I used to use my meat thermometer in the kettle but it never stayed put. I waited about a year before purchasing in hopes I would receive this kettle as a gift. However, I just couldn't wait anymore and purchased this when I received a coupon via email. I love, love, love it. It is so easy to read the temperature gauge and the design is beautiful. It looks and feels so well made. I received so many compliments, too. I would have bought the Gourmet Tea Maker but it was too expensive and it got bad reviews. So, I think this is a great solution.

Received this as a gift for Mother's Day and was really excited. But I think I received a defective one.

- the gauge isn't correct. If I want the correct water temp, I still have to use a separate thermometer (i tested w/ two different thermometers)

- The lid does not fit correctly on the kettle. Once you close the lid, it is very hard to remove (and hard to close)

- the whistle keeps falling out

And unfortunately, I'm not able to exchange it because I used it and do not have a receipt (it was a gift).

On the positive, it looks very attractive on my stove. I do like how much water it holds.

I have been using the PerfectTemp kettle for a while and have found a problem. I believe that it has a design flaw. The metal whistle in the spout lid fell out and into the pot several times. Instead of metal the spout lid is made of plastic. With the great heat created particularly with Black/Rooibos tea making, the plastic expands and the metal whistle falls out. I do not think this would happen if the lid were made of metal. However, the problem with metal is that you would probably burn your fingers.

I called the Cuisinart service department in New York and they were quick to repair or replace the kettle. However, I decided to use a little super glue and so far the whistle has not fallen out.

Even considering all of this, I am still very happy with the kettle and use it daily.

This kettle with its red color looks great on my stove. I am learning about tea and the importance of temperature for the various types of tea. Previously, I just used tea bags and have at least 10 different tea brands in my kitchen cupboards. So, I like and appreciate tea. What I have come to learn with this kettle and loose-leaf tea brewing is how critical temperature is. And, this kettle is GREAT for that!
Also, I have another kettle on my stove which has served me well through the years. However, it burns my hands where the PerfecTemp does not. In addition, it holds a lot of water which makes a lot of delicious tea. It is made of iron and has a ceramic coating for good heating. The lifetime guarantee is also most appreciated.
With regard to what is bad about this kettle, well I am still working on that! Give me a few more years...

This kettle is such a big help and time saver. It makes you worry free that you know that all that money you spent on your tea isn't going to waste because it was either too bitter or not full of all the flavor it had potential for because the temperature was off. The kettle pays for itself with all the perfect cups of tea that it makes :)

I am new to the loose leaf tea thing, and I really had no idea that different types of teas require brewing at different temperatures, but once I knew that I wondered how I was going to accomplish knowing the temperature of my water. This tea kettle has taken the work and the guessing out of getting the perfect cup of tea! I would recommend this to anyone who likes to make life simple.

I LOVE this kettle. I drink something like 5-10 cups of tea a day, and it's a life-saver. It's fabulous because you don't have to guess at the temperature (although the kettle works better if you heat it up and then let it cool back down. You get a more accurate temperature reading). Ever since I started using it, I've noticed that all of my teas taste ever so slightly different as the appropriate water temperature brings out the qualities of each tea.
As for how well it works, it goes from cold tap water to herbal/black heat in about 25 minutes when left on my old electric stove on medium heat. If you drink a lot of green/white tea, that only takes about 15 or 20 minutes. It's so easy to use, easy to clean, and it looks really nice too. It also pours well. I haven't had a single drip yet. The only thing that is even slightly an issue is that the little spring-loaded hatch over the spout can sometimes flick off HOT water when its opened, but I suspect if you just open it with a towel over your hand or something, you'll be fine (which I would do if I were less impatient).

I don't counter space for a water dispenser or electric tea maker, but always have a teapot on the stove. It is wonderful to have the built-in thermometer so I can have the perfect temp for the tea I am preparing.

My husband and I LIVE on Teavana Tea. This tea kettle with the built in temperature gauge is a lifesaver. With our old tea kettle often times I was over-heating the water for certain types of tea that require a lower brewing temperature, such as White Tea and it was resulting in a bitter taste as I was "burning" the tea leaves so to speak. This Tea Kettle takes all the guesswork out of how hot the water temperature is. You get a perfect cup of tea every single time you drink. The only thing is if you are having something such as white tea and you like using the Rock Sugar, it does not dissolve fully due to the temperature of the water not being as hot as if you were to have black tea. So I just substitute the rock sugar for granulated organic sugar that I keep in my cupboard as it dissolves more easily,if you prefer a little sweetness.

I would highly recommend this product to everyone who is an avid tea drinker. It makes life so much easier and eliminates all guesswork. I don't know how I functioned without this kettle. The other amazing thing is the kettle comes with a Lifetime warranty/guarantee should you experience any problems. Just keep your original receipt in a very safe place. The most it will cost you for a replacement kettle is s&h.

This is a must have item. Worth every penny!
