I was a little hesitant at first to try the Monkey Picked oolong but upon the first sip I was hooked and the benefits I have endured from drinking this tea on a daily basis I am sleeping better at night I am not hungry and my Mom has commented that I all ready look like I am losing weight. I was hesitant for months on trying this tea because of the price tag. Then my coworkers bought me a gift card and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to buy a couple ounces. And let me tell you, this tea is worth every cent! The flavor is wonderful, and it only gets better with every steeping. I would go so far as to say the first steeping is probably the worst (not to say it's bad, because that one is delicious too), and I easily get 6 steepings! So if you think about it, 2 ounces will get you more like 100+ cups of tea, instead of the 25 or so you would normally get from 2 ounces of tea. Try it!

I drank my 1st cup of monkey-picked on a Monday morning skipping my regular tea, my head felt clear as I drove to work and I was excited the change of teas went over well. Later in the day I realized I hadn't taken my allergy medicine (no symptoms, just my brain at work) and I should have been suffering. I now have 2-3 cups of monkey-picked oolong every day and I am not suffering from my typical spring pollen allergies. Some people have commented on the price of this tea and in my opinion, I would rather spend my money on this fabulous tea that I enjoy drinking than on box after box of medicine.

I was always curious about this tea since there was so much hype about it, but I couldnt break down and spend the money for it myself. My boyfriend bought me some for Valentine's Day and I must admit....I find this tea fascinating. It truly does get better with each steeping, which makes it fantastic to take to work because I can resteep the leaves all day long. I also agree that it is not so touchy with temp and time as I only have a microwave at work to warm the water...so who knows what the actual temp is that I am using, also, sometimes I get busy at work and dont get to pull the leaves from the water at the precise moment I should...and every time the tea has been wonderful. I dont know if I am the only one who has experienced this, but I tend to notice a black licorice-type flavor in this tea after the second steeping or so.....is it just me? All in all, I recommend this tea and will now purchase it for myself.

This is unlike any Oolong I've tasted before. I was used to the earthy, blank Oolongs you get at Chinese restaurants after a meal. This one is nothing like that. I wasn't sure how I felt about this tea at first. It was definetely not as strong tasting as I pictured. but after a few steeps, this tea is fantastic! I followed the lady's instructions from the store - steep it once then dump the water out. then steep it again and enjoy. I didnt believe her when she said you could steep it 5-6 times (I would only recommend 5 times total). She also told me the 4th steep was the best - she was right!

This tea is great by itself and is pleasantly very smooth and mild. Based on the health benefits I have read and the ammount of times you can steep this tea, it is totally worth the money.

Also, for the re-steeps I steeped for 30 sec to a minute longer for each steep past the 2nd/3rd. Just play with the steep times and find what suits you best :]

I had read about the benefits oolong tea and had wanted to try it out. My sister-in-law recommended this particular tea to start with. She sent me home with some and I was hooked! After I finished it, I couldn't order it fast enough. I use two teaspoons in my small teapot at the beginning of the day, and refill it several times without adding more tea. It requires nothing else, no sweetener or other additive, as it is perfect the way it is. This is the best tea I have ever tasted, save for a gift of some of this same variety that was bought in Hong Kong. This is far less fussy than green tea, in terms of not turning bitter if the water is a few degrees too warm or the steeping time a little too long.

This IS the ultimate oolong tea. I've never had anything like it. I drink about 32 oz of this tea every day and I feel great every time I drink it. Truth is, this tea truly is a "weight loss tea" no lies about it, I lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks just by drinking a cup of it during each meal. (about 4 cups a day) It's also a great tea if you just want to enjoy because it just tastes sooooo gooood!! The color is perfect every time you brew, and DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BREWING IT UNDER 5 TIMES!! I used it up to 8 times and it actually gets better every time you brew the same leaves. It's quite beautiful actually how they extend into whole leaves every time you brew it!! It has a lot of flavor, I personally believe but sometimes I add a teaspoon of prosperous peach oolong just to add a little bit of fruit in the taste. I suffer from excruciating back pain. I knew about oolong's digestive properties (my metabolism runs so fast I can hardly keep up), but I heard it is also a muscle relaxant.

I was tired of the pain so decided to drink the 2-3 recommended cups of M.P.O. per day. Yes, I am still catching up with my metabolism, but I am also finding the pain in my back is MUCH more tolerable...and I'm on my feet all day and not taking ANY pain killers.

This tea is a great Oolong. It's strong enough to stand up to a tofu or chicken curry and not so strong as to overpower a light dish or spring salad. As an ex-executive chef, I'm always looking for flavor profiles to matchup and this one is a curry dream! Not too temperamental as far as the brewing time goes, three-ish minutes is great, and can be steeped several times (I'm sipping on my fourth cup now.)

I made a blend (pictured) of Lavender Dreams and Monkey Picked Oolong and added a bit of extra lavender. This kind of tea is best to keep pure, and it's amazingly smooth and light brewed so it's the color of a white wine. It tastes like no oolong I've ever had, and I assure you'll love it.

Because it is so light and great any time, it works even with a mildly fruity/floral tea, since it has a taste that isn't so unlike a rose in an odd way. And as you can see, the aesthetics of the blend are lovely as well. But them both separate, so you can also savor this amazing tea pure.

My boss is Chinese, he gave me some tea and it was amazing. Now that I no longer work for him, I wanted to find the tea again so I can have it over and over. I went to Teavana, and asked the guy to pull all the white, green and Oolong teas until I could find it. The first one he pulled was MPO and I knew from the smell that I found it. I put this tea in a thermos and resteep it all day long. It is such a wonderful tea. A good next step from this would be the Eastern Beauty.

I was given this as a gift and it took a few trials to get it right. First, it was really strong and bitter. Then I read it's best with multiple steepings and I've found that the 2nd and 3rd steepings are the best. The first is usually a little bitter. Also, even though it's pricey, you use such a small amount because the little balls unfurl to reveal these long leaves (almost like seaweed) that you have to be careful not to use too much. I use less than a teaspoon when brewing in my Teavana brewer. Very delicious, and I'm not a big tea drinker.

This is absolutely the best oolong you can get. I typically drink flavored oolong teas because they're less expensive and less complex, so better for iced tea, which is how I usually drink mine. I LOVE this tea! After getting it home I noticed a very veggy type of taste to the tea. After reading the reviews I did as a few of them suggested and steeped the leaves for 30 seconds then toss that water and add fresh to steep as directed. That totally got rid of that taste! I also did as others suggested and tried mixing the Zingiber Ginger Coconut Rooibos with this. I would NOT suggest doing this at all. The Oolong is too strong a flavor and overpowers the (what I find to be) weaker Rooibos. You also have to brew them in seperate bags as the Rooibos will not resteep as many times as the Oolong. My boyfriend thought it was a strange combination (a root and a green tea) but I thought I would give it a try. Drink this tea ALONE! No mixture needed. I like greens,whites or a good quality black. But oolongs... This changed my mind. If you don't like greens throw out the first cup of this tea. I mean it. The first brew is very vegetative. This was definitely a reluctant purchase because of the price, but I finally gave in and got about 6oz. I would recommend first time buyers only get 2oz because it might be a bit too light for people used to fruitier teas.
The first infusion was a bit weak, but the leaves had yet to fully unfurl. It lasts four infusions for me, so for stronger tea, try "washing" the tea (typically done with puerh) by steeping for about 30 seconds and discarding the water so the leaves get prepped. The second and third infusions are much stronger and aromatic, since the leaves are fully opened.

The dry tea itself smells wonderful. It has a very sugary scent that shows up in the liquor as an aftertaste to the vegetal flavors. It doesn't need much or any sweetener at all. A suggestion for something sweeter without the extra sugar would be to add 1 teaspoon of chamomile to 2 teaspoons of oolong.

All in all, it's a wonderful tea for people who like very pure tea with no strings attached. Very simple and delicious.

I refused to purchase this tea for a LONG time due to the price, but now that I've finally given in, it is a must have in my cupboard! The price comes down considerably once you realize this tea holds up very well to multiple steepings. As of now, I can get 5 really good steeps from 1 tsp. It's a quirky tea, though. I absolutely love this tea. I was skeptical at first about getting such an expensive tea but you can resteep this so many times it is completely worth it! I drink all that I want hot, then steep it as many times as I can and put it in the fridge! It makes such a refreshing ice tea. I put it in my water bottle and take it to the gym with me instead of water.

I took the suggestion of the teologist to blend this tea with Zingiber Ginger Coconut Rooibos Tea. This is a great replacement for coffee. this tea is EXPENSIVE but WELL WORTH IT! I have gotten all of my girlfriends addicted to this tea. I truly think this tea smells like a cup of springtime. A deep inhale reminds me of crocuses ,forsythia, and fresh new earth. After smelling this tea from the tin in the store I was not convinced that I would like it. The staff in the store had great things to say about it. So to satisfy my curiosity (before spending a chunk of money to buy it) I decided to have them brew me a cup slightly sweetened with the german cane rock sugar.. SOLD!!! it was amazing and surprising..so delicious unlike anything I had ever drank before. i feel it is worth the investment especailly since you can really get 5 good infusions out of it. I was told you could either just let the leaves stay in the pot if you plan on making more tea soon or to put the leaves on paper towels and pat them dry to avoid getting mold on leaves.

While not the top of the food chain in Oolong's, Teavana's Monkey Picked Oolong has an amazing presence and tone for the price. It is by far my favorite tea in the line-up and I forsee myself enjoying this for years to come.

I must agree with the other reviewers that this is a high-quality tea. It is fresh and smells wonderful before it is brewed. However, the flavor of Oolong is rather boring. I understand the health benefits, but I don't drink tea often enough to reuse the leaves, and the price is substantially higher than any other tea I have purchased through Teavana. It's not a bad tea, but it doesn't work for me.

A great tea both hot and iced. I love to drink it when I need a little pick me up in the afternoon. Great for multiple infusions. I often go through several pots a day. This tea is always requested by my guests. Totally worth the price, when you break down how many cups you actually get from multiple infusions it actually turns out to cost about the same as the other oolongs Teavana offers. By far my favorite Teavana offering.

This is the Teavana's best quality oolong, and just by looking at it you can see the quality. The leaves are "beautifully and delicately crinkly" showing a refined technique in its processing. The brewing reveals a full or nearly full leaf, which is both great tasting and great for you. It has a mild flavor, very palatable, and very smooth.

I don't like finding any fannings in it, which I do find on occasion. It's pretty much inevitable with tea that there be some tea bits, but I'm just picky with my tea.

I really don't favor oolong's HOWEVER (and that is a huge 'however") this one breaks the oolong mold. I tried it in store and fell in love with it's complex flavor. Most oolong's taste dry and flat to me, this one is the ultimate in good taste.

Although it seems to be the most expensive Oolong tea, I am not giving it up. I switched from Peach Oolong earlier this year on recommendation from the Teavana sales associate and I absolutely love this.

I find it has just the right body unlike another favorite of mine
Gyokuro green tea which is more full. So I think anyone should love it... I try to remind myself it has caffeine in it so I don't over indulge.

Being very picky of the teas I drink, I was a little unwilling to try this tea out. However, I thought, why not - it wouldn't hurt to get a cup brewed rather than buying a whole tin. I gave it a try and it wasn't bad at all. The body was a little sharp, could've been smoother. The taste was not bitter, but still goes great with sugar crystals.

I have fibermyalgia and I can't begin to explain how this tea has changed my morning experience. It would take me hours to get ready in the morning and now with one cup of this tea, I can move easier and get ready faster. I have removed coffee from my diet [which is amazing] and it has helped me to loose 40 pounds [so far]. This tea is perfect to mix with others for some more flavor [I mix with Cloud 9 and ice it!] Once you have experienced the natural qualities of this tea, you will love it!

This stuff is expensive, but it is exceptionally good. It goes a long way if you can make use of multiple infusions.

I have always had a problem with certain foods upsetting my stomach from spicy to acid reflex and this is the only thing that i have found where it works faster than ANY anti-acid pill and it only take three sips. the taste takes a bit to get used to alone but that is why i LOVE teavana because you can blend anything with it and it works the same. Now if you are caffine sensitive like i am the employees have great ways to lower it. just ask....i did and i have never been happier.
