I very rarely use any sort of sweetener in my teas, despite having a pretty good sweet tooth when it comes to food, but I have a couple fruit teas that I will usually add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar to. Yesterday, I was in Teavana getting a couple new flavors, as I do every week, and asked if I could try a bit of rock sugar since they were making tea with it. It was delicious on it's own, just to munch on! I made the very dangerous (but very good) decision to buy a pound of it. I added just a couple pieces to my Youthberry tea this morning, and it was great, really took the tartness out without messing around with the flavor. Plus, when I get a sweet craving at work, I can just munch a piece or two of this instead of buying a cookie or doughnut or something! Great buy!
Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
Adds a real nice sweetness to any tea. I read some other reviews for this sugar that gave it 2 and 3 stars, and found that most complaints were due to the sugar not dissolving quickly enough. Well, I solved that problem! Just grind your rock sugar in a coffee grinder, to a consistency of your liking. "Worked Great" took only a few minutes of my time for a cup of sugar, and now I have quick dissolving sugar. No need to clean the grinder after, "it's only sugar".

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
This sugar is unlike any I've ever used before. It creates that hint of sweetness without even slightly changing the taste of the tea otherwise, which I find remarkable. As someone who initially took lots of sugar in my tea, I weaned myself off of sugar only to find myself wanting just a touch of sweetness in my teas. When I fill my 11 oz tumbler, I use just half a teaspoon of the rock sugar and I'm good to go. I will never take processed sugar in my tea again! If you are going to invest your money into buying high quality tea, you really should invest in a high quality sweetener as well, and this German rock sugar is it for me.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
This sugar is awesome! The flavor is so much cleaner than regular white sugar. It's as if the tea you add it to gains its own natural sweetness through this sugar. A little goes a long way with this stuff, so it will last you awhile, which is a bonus. Plus it's so pleasing to the eye... it's like something you'd see in a relaxation room at a spa. Highly recommended!

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
After tasting in the store alone and in a tea, I purchased a pound of rock sugar to sweeten my tea collection. While it does add a deeper finish and slight hint of molasses, i have to use more to sweeten than honey or turbinado sugar. Turbinado sugar will give a similar taste so I think I'll stick with that.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
German rock sugar is the BEST sweetener available!I tried turbinado sugar, regular sugar, and Splenda...THEN tried German rock sugar...I will never use anything but rock sugar again. The other sweeteners actually diminished the flavor of the tea! If you are going to spend money on healthy tea, use the best sweetener too!

I love the way you can use just a small amount and it enhances the tea flavor without overpowering it. I used to use 2 teaspoons to a 16oz mug of tea. I can use 1 teaspoon of this sugar to 32oz of tea and it is perfectly flavored!

I tried a piece of this in the store while I was looking around one day. I loved it! It isn't too strong or too weak. It definitely tastes better than regular sugar and it even tastes healthy! I buy this all the time now and drink it with every tea I have. It doesn't take away from the flavor of the actual tea. Which is great because who wants to taste just the sugar?! This is a must have with tea if you haven't tried it already!

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
The teas definetely taste way better with the German Rock Sugar. My main purpose for this review is to give everyone some advice on the use of the sugar. The German Rock Sugar DOES take a while to dissolve. It works best to add it to your tea AFTER it is steeped, otherwise you will be wasting your sugar. Depending on how long the steeping requirement is for the tea, the sugar will not get a chance to dissolve.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
I dropped 250 bucks at Teavana yesterday, but it was totally worth it. German Rock Sugar was one of the purchases I made, and this stuff is great! I don't usually add honey or other sweetner to my tea or coffee, but when I tried 1 1/2 - 2 tsp of this sugar with my teas, the subtle flavor of sweetness was truly sensational! Try some!

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
This is wonderful! The tea isn't worth buying if you're not going to get the german rock sugar!
I never dreamed it would impact the flavor sooo much until I bought my first teas from here and went home to try them... only to find out they really lacked the flavor I experienced in the store.... so I thought maybe it just needs some sugar. I tried sugar, extra tea, different steeping times, EVERYTHING, but nothing worked. I could never get it just like the tea I tasted in the store. So, finally I convinced myself to try the german rock sugar as a final resort. My tea was PERFECT with the german rock sugar! Exactly like the store!
This sugar really brings out the flavor of tea and saves me from having to use as much tea as I was before trying to match the store flavor. It's a very light sweetner that doesn't take away from the tea flavor. It really brings out the flavors in your tea beautifully.
Highly recommend buying this if you're going to buy teas from here.
Also, I never had a problem with melting the sugar. I've never needed boiling water to dissolve it. My water temperature has always been well below boiling and I never had a problem. ENJOY :)

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
It's just so much better than regular sugar. It's even good to pop a few crystals in your mouth to suck on. Seems to add so much more to tea than regular sugar.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
This is really nice for more delicate teas because it definitely doesn't alter the flavor. However, I won't be buying it again. It doesn't desolve unless you let it steep and stir vigorously in boiling water. So most of the time I have to dissolve my sugar then steep my tea. Too much trouble for me, and too expensive to waste otherwise. I will stick to raw sugar. There doesn't seem to be enough of a difference to make this sugar worth it.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
This sugar is better than any I've tried. I have tried organic sugar of every kind I could find in the stores, even health food stores. Nothing is better than this! It doesn't cover the tea flavor, but enhances it. It is so smooth and very hard to describe.A must try. You'll never look at sugar the same way again! LOVE IT!!!

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
I have been using the German Rock Sugar since I started drinking loose leaf tea, and I have loved it from the start. But, I never truly appreciated it until tonight (when I ran out).
I tried, for the firt time, to use another sweetner. It disruppted the taste of my tea; I was overwhelmed by the taste of the sweetner.
The rock sugar is just right; it really enhances the tea. It will round out tangy flavors and highlight floral notes.
I don't use it every time with every tea as I do enjoy the taste of unsweeted tea, but, when I do sweeten my tea, I will never use anything else.
Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
I like this sugar. It is real, honest-to-goodness, delicious sugar. Plus I got it in a glass container, and its rich color and texture make it a pretty thing to have on your counter.
Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
I had previously been using "sugar in the raw", as an alternative to white sugar. However, this German rock sugar makes all the difference! It's not too sweet, either.

I'm a purist when it comes to my tea--I truly enjoy the taste of the tea. However, my sister gave me a gift of the German Rock Salt along with Roobibos Tropica and I have to say, I'm hooked. It does not alter the taste of the tea at all, just enhances it. Really, really good.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
The rock sugar is an amazing, subtle sweetener for both hot and cold tea. I have been drinking Teavana's strawberry lemonade herbal tea blended with the apple, lemon and pomegranate rooibos tea, which needs a hint of sugar to round out the tangy (but not too tangy) taste.
My measurements are as follows:
Hot- 8oz of water, 1.5 tsp of tea, 1 small tsp of rock sugar
Cold- 16oz of water, 3 tsp of tea, 2 small tsp of rock sugar
This sugar mellows out the tanginess from the lemon and pomegranate and keeps everything in balance.

This is the most amazing sweetener you will every try and worth every penny. This rock sugar is amazing. Each little crystal gem adds such a subtle natural sweetens to enhance (not cover up) your tea. This does not distort the tea in any way. Not to mention that it is just as good as any candy plain. Yummmy

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
I was so eager to try this sugar but im not happy. True, it doesnt affect the taste of the tea and its a natural unprocessed product which is great. But the rocks dont dissolve completely. I tried stirring them as I pour the hot water over them, i tried them with my lidded cups so the water stays hot longer but nothing. i always end up with bits of sugar rocks at the bottom of the cup even after i've finished the tea. imo, sugar that costs this much should not give me any problems

I feel like I'm dropping uncut gemstones into my tea. Dissolving, they deliver a pure sweet essence, allowing tea to keep a genuine flavor.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
I have never been a big tea drinker..... until now. Unless I was drinking sweet tea, I always felt tea was water with an after taste. This weekend,I sampled a tea (strawberry lemonade and Apple pomegranate) in the store, and while I liked it... it was too sweet.
I bought some of the tea and a lb of the sugar because I thought I would like it if it were a little less sweet. I was correct. And while the flavor of the tea was the big selling point. I was REALLY suprised to see how little sugar I had to use to make it sweet. As a bariatric patient, my doctor fusses at us for drinking our calories but tells us we need to drink a lot of fluids. It is hard to do that and not get any or few calories. I just made a pot (32 oz.) and put 4 teaspoons of the sugar in, and it was still a bit too sweet for me. At 25 calories per scoop, I can drink this stuff all day and only get 150 calories. That is perfect for me!
The price was a little of a concern, but if I am using so little of it, it will last a while. I think it almost evens out considering I could put a lot of white granulated sugar in a pot to make it sweet.
The container for the three lbs is nice, but since I live in an apartment and space is an issue, I would rather put it in a square, air tight, plastic container that I can put in the cabinet.
Starting to think of how to use this instead of sugar in other recipies.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
I don't like useing a sweatener for my teas but i tried this and it is just right. I place about five of the sugar rocks at the bottom of the cup and poured hot water over it. It all disolved and enhanced the flavor of the tea. The only thing is that you don't want to use too much as my daughter found out. It can make it too sweat.

My biggest regret about this product is that i should of bought a one pound instead of a 1/2 pound. It does what it said it does. Forget the regular sugar for tea I'm gonna start ordering this.

Let's just say that I had to put the bag away because it wasn't going to last long if I didn't! This is yummy in or out of your tea! So good, that you may want to hide it from the kids!

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
I first tried just a piece of this to suck on and it tastes very good, sweet, but had a creamy tone to it. when used in a cup of tea i first noticed that even though i used the same measurement about i use of white sugar it was much sweeter. i ended up pulling out some of the crystals that were not dissolved yet to prevent it from being too sweet. Only real bad thing is that they take a few mins to dissolve and well the price of course.
I would suggest using 15-20% less measurement compared to white refined sugar.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
I had previously used honey to sweeten my tea. I was introduced to the German Rock Sugar at the Teavana store. I bought about 8 oz. to take home and wish I had bought the 3 lb. jar. I love how it sweetens without adding a taste of it's own. I never use artificial sweeteners of any kind, so I love that this is a natural product without refining like white sugar.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
Originally, I critized my mother for paying so much for sugar. However, after trying this product I am unhappy with any other sweetener for tea, even honey. I will only use this sugar for tea because of the price, but even on a budget I feel that this product is worth while. It's ability to enhance, not overpower, the flavor of the tea still surprises me. The tea does NOT taste like sugar was added, but more like it is naturally that sweet.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
The Rock Cane sugar AND the jar are a compliment for every kitchen and tea enthusiast! Just as it states, it does not change the flavor of the tea. It's a wonderful sweetener that does not coat or disrupt the palate! And the jar, THE JAR, is sexy with its bold, wide bottom and narrower neck... simply crafted, clean lines and graces the counter-top.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
I purchased some wonderful blends at a Teavana store but when I went back and resampled them in the store, I realized something was missing from mine. Then I noticed on the dispenser it said, "lightly sweetened" so I had to ask the sales clerk "with what?" because I knew it just couldn't be white sugar (which I only ever use in cheap restaurant teas)...I was almost expecting it to be honey but it was this wonderful rock sugar! Until now, I only sweetened my black teas at home with stevia, which does add a flavor of it's own. I never thought of sweetening my lighter teas before: greens, oolongs, whites, etc. I'm thinking differently about that now. I'm certain I will become a regular buyer of this product.
The only complaint I have would be the price but a little goes a long way so I have a feeling it will last me a while (or maybe not considering the frequency with which I drink tea).

I thought I could just use honey for my teas, but they kept changing the flavor of them. I finally gave in and bought the cane sugar, and my teas have never tasted any better. I drink up to 3-4 cups of tea throughout the day now. The Cane Sugar also has fewer calories than honey, which I was happy about.

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
This is a fantastic sweetener, it keeps the flavor of the tea intact. In my opinion it adds a slight creaminess to the tea which I really like. I've never been a big fan of adding sweeteners to my tea, however this has changed my mind. The only draw back is the price per pound (yes I'm nit picking).
I'll still give a 5 star rating just because it tastes so great.
Highly recommend!

Comments about Teavana German Rock Cane Sugar (1 lb)
:
I love love love this rock sugar. I am the type of person who loves adding sweetener to her tea. This is the accompaniment. It has such a smooth flavor, is all natural and enhances the flavor of the tea with out changing the taste or chemistry of the tea. The only time the Rock Sugar is not useful is when you are brewing white or green tea (175 degrees F)as the crystals do not melt for the water temperature is not hot enough; in which case I use granulated sugar in my cupboard if I want to sweeten my green or white tea.
Must try product!

The cane sugar is such a wonderful addition to any tea. It adds fullness to your cup and you don't need a huge amount to make it sweet. The flavor is sort of Maple like. Very nice. I love to add it to the Samurai Chai mate!! SOOO GOOOD!

I find it's best to use it as your steeping the tea. I place some in the bottom of the pot and let it simmer. It gets the rock sugar melting faster and disperses better.

This is the perfect addition to tea, hot or cold. It is suprisingly mild and doesn't alter the flavor when added to tea, considering the flavor is a bit stronger than ordinary sugar. Best of all, a little goes a long way!
