Comments about Teavana Lapsang Souchong Organic Black Tea:

Unique amongst teas for its smoky aroma and taste, Lapsang is my preferred cup of morning (or afternoon, or evening...) tea. I take it with a splash of soymilk and some natural rock sugar... I find that natural sugar imparts a bit of a molasses finish, especially towards the end of the cup.

I take a load of kidding from my friends about my love of this tea. As avid tea partiers, we've tried many types of tea from herbals to the whites, to greens and the blacks. Without fail, when I show up with this tea, I am met with grimaces all around. My friends just don't get it. I'm guessing it must be one of those "acquired taste" things but, once you get it, you're hooked. It is a lovely tea, smooth and comforting. It does, indeed, bring back sweet memories of evenings by the campfire.

This tea is wonderful! The scent is very smoky but when brewed is very smooth and mellow. A wonderful tea anytime, but especially nice in the afternoons in the fall and winter when it will warm you up and make you want to get under a blanket with a good book!

Tonight I'm making Basmati rice using L.S. tea instead of water. My second brewing will be a wonder cup for the chef (me).

I'm sensitive to scents, this was over powering. But the taste was fine, think it would be good with lemon.

Comments about Teavana Lapsang Souchong Organic Black Tea:

I don't believe I would buy this tea again. I am sure it is high quality for what it is, but I found the aroma very surprising upon opening the bag. Very reminiscent of a wild fire sweeping through a pine forest. I don't feel this is an appealing smell for something I am about to drink.

The best part of this tea experience is the half hour of amusement I got from steeping a cup of this tea at work. Half of the office immediately thought the building was on fire and starting running around looking for smoke. I figured I better tell them that it was the tea they were smelling before the fire department got dispatched.

Comments about Teavana Lapsang Souchong Organic Black Tea:

As a fan of the Assam Golden Rain tea bend that is known for it's malty flavor, I tried this one out thinking it would be similar. This one says it's malty and smokey, and to be honest I didn't try it after I bought it. The smell was overwhelmingly smokey and made me very nauseous. Because of this, I didn't try it. The Assam Golden Rain is more expensive, but to me it's a much better blend.

I drink this tea in the morning (gave up coffee six months ago) and find it more than satisfying. The flavor gives a good start to the morning and I enjoy the aroma as I am drinking it. I alternate this with the Almond Biscotti tea each morning after my breakfast.

Comments about Teavana Lapsang Souchong Organic Black Tea:

Not for a casual person looking for a straight black tea, but if you're looking for ordinary tea you're probably not shopping Teavana. The smoky aroma has become very familiar to my (non-tea-drinking) family - it is quite strong. The flavor of the black tea is present and it is a good quality tea. This can be overbrewed, causing a bitter flavor, so while you may want to sit there and smell the infusing tea for hours, make sure you have a timer handy. :)

Aromas of a smoldering camp fire.

A sure bet for those who enjoy a peat-smoked single malt scotch.

Comments about Teavana Lapsang Souchong Organic Black Tea:

I decided to try out this tea at my local Teavana and I was amazed by the unique smell of this. I did not except a hickory smoke smell aroma from this tea. Personally, I like it! Black Tea is a favorite of mine and I think, so far, that this is the most unique black tea I've had.

Though I do love the strength of black tea and I normally drink it straight without sweeteners or honey, even I thought this was a little too strong. Not that I find this a bad thing, in fact I think that even black tea enthusiasts will get caught by surprise by how intense this is.

It does leave an after taste and it does have caffeine as most black teas do naturally. I recommend having some around lunch time or in the afternoon. It's a great pick-me-up and the properties of this type of caffeine will be better for you than a cup of coffee.

I give this a 4 Rating because while the tea is unique and it has a great flavor, it might be a little too strong for some people. Take it from me! Regardless though, take my rating with a grain of salt. It's up to you on what you give this. My giving it a 4 star does NOT make this a bad tea. Quite the contrary actually :)

Hope you enjoy this! Give it a shot. It's a strong black tea for sure and it's unique for what it is as well. Depends on your tastes :)
