Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
I made a trip to the teavana store at my mall, and for my first ever teavana purchase, this was among one of the 5 I got. This is most definitely I will make sure I keep in my stash.
This is the best green tea I've had so far. It's very grassy, which is a good thing for me. I'm a purist, so I drink it straight, but if it's too much for you, try just a little bit of honey or similar to give a hint of sweet. The thing that stands out to me most about the tea is that it is very clean tasting. It tastes fresh, it tastes good, very high quality for a great price. If you don't like green tea a whole lot, then maybe it's not something you'd want straight, but I love it.
Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
This was my first tea from Teavana. After getting tired of random brand teas that never rly tasted anything like you'd have in an authentic restaurant, I decided to try out a small dose of Sencha.
It's smooth, has a great sweet after-taste (even before I add my 2 tsp of sugar), but quick to turn bitter ESPECIALLY when there's tea leaves in the bottom of the cup. I can get around 3 steeps out of 1 tsp.
If you're looking for a basic tea, this is a great start. I just refilled my tin with.. 7 oz due to a communication error, but it's SO worth it in the end.
Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
Good standby green tea to have in stock. I often use this to mix with fruity teas when I want something less sweet.
Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
I received this tea as part of the "Tea of the Month" club that I received as a Christmas gift. I am a longtime tea drinker, and no stranger to green tea. However, I found this one hard to enjoy. Very strong, and grassy taste. I consulted the Teavana website for ideas to mix with it. I had some lemon youkou on hand, so I tried that. It did make the tea more palatable, so I will be able to finish my 2 oz. pouch, but I won't be purchasing this tea in the future.
Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
I really like this tea. Plus it is kind of fun to watch the leaves open from such tiny slivers to full-size. I usually add a touch (1/4t) honey to a 16oz cup to really bring out the nuances.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
To the person who wrote the review and said they suck on a vitamin C tablet... it's actually citric acid that increases the ECGC antioxidant that stays in your system. I tried squeezing fresh lemon in my tea but it was bad! bleh. So i sqeeze fresh lemon in my water and alternate between my tea and my lemon water.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
Sencha is a great basic for any tea enthusiasts tea supply! It's great when consumed on it's own as well as mixed with other teas (especially fruity herbals). Any tea lover should make sure they never run out of this. As always, Teavana's Sencha green tea is very fresh and very high quality. As with all green teas, make sure you pay attention to water temperature as well as steep time in order to ensure the flavor develops as intended.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
This is a great everyday green tea. Not too expensive and it is what I consider REAL green tea, unlike the stuff you buy at the supermarket in bags that is brown when brewed. The only thing is that Teavana's instructions say to brew for only 45 sec. which isn't even enough time to tint he water. I use the Perfect Tea Ball so it could be that, but I usually infuse it for 3-4 min. and it's not the least bitter.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
This is an amazing tea. I am a lover of Japanese teas and this is one of my favorites. Sencha is my staple. I use it for my everyday drinking. It has a perfect mixture of the soothing purity that I desire in a tea and an excellent low price. It is an exceptional tea for anymood; though I tend to prefer Gyokuro Imperial for a more special or formal occasion and Matcha when I require a more traditional feel.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
this is a great, grassy green tea. it's simple. i typically drink it plain but i could see adding it to other blends. it's cheaper than many other green teas. i have some at home and at work and really it's my favorite green. temperature is very important. the water should NOT be boiling. also the way i brew it it basically to pour the hot water over the leaves an close the top on the perfect tea maker then put it on my cup so i literally brew for like 30 seconds. even a minute is too long in my opinion. i get 3 brews off this tea so it's a real price performer.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
This is another full bodied Japanese green like that of the more refined and expensive Gyokuro.Sencha is a bit more harsh and in my humble opinion less balanced then the Gyokuro green. They do have somewhat the same apperance and flavor over all,but the more expensive Gyokuro is deserving of it's premium price. This is one of those examples of "You get what you pay for".Alternating this with my Gyokuro provides for variation in my Japanese greens.I also drink the Chinese Pi Lo Chun green tea and the Chinese white Silver Needle teas.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
I drink Teavana's SENCHA green tea every morning. Studies show that vitamin C greatly increases absorbtion of green tea's antioxidants. So I suck on a 100 mg vitamin C tablet while I wait for the water to boil. I sit and truly enjoy my tea before leaving for work in the morning. This is a great ritual to begin my day.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
This one MUST be brewed at the correct temperature otherwise it will become bitter and astringent. Some people have a misconception of green teas being bitter simply because they do not brew them correctly. It's a good, basic green tea. You will taste the vegetal flavors of the leaf in this one. It's a neccessary tea to have in your tea pantry because it's very versatile. You can use it as a base for custom blends. You can also cook with it. Or, if you're in the mood to just taste the simplicity of the leaf...drink it straight up!

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
This tea has a strong flavour and if you are not used to drinking green tea I would suggest taking it slow. When I first drank a cup of this tea I used 1 tsp (recommended amount for 8 oz) in 12 oz of hot water and brewed it for 1 minute. I did for a week before I increased to about 1.5 tsp for 2 minutes. I was able to adjust my taste to the flavour and now I love this tea. I drink it every morning and I feel great. Gives me energy and relaxes me in the morning. Also, I would strongly suggest buying from teavana. Their teas are high quality and for a good price!

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
For a sencha, it's inexpensive and a good enough quality for everyday use. Doesn't hold up to repeated steepings as much as a higher quality would though.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
This is a classic Japanese green tea- a daily drink. It is very good quality and has a nice grassy, clean taste. It must be brewed properly- do not steep too long or use overly-hot water. Better to start out making a weak tea and then strengthen it to taste if desired. The health benefits of this tea are amazing- though not as amazing as Gyokuro (my favorite). I agree with the other reviewer who said that this tea is not for the fruity and herbal tea drinkers- this is a serious, traditional green tea. But try this tea more than once- it's an acquired taste if you're used to the fruity and flavored teas- but you'll wind up LOVING the purity of it- trust me! Also loved the Pi Lo Chun. Enjoy!

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
This tea was recommended to me by one of the store associates to compliment the herbal teas I already owned.
The first time I brewed it though, the taste could only be described as weedy and revolting. I ended up pouring out the entire cup. Thinking I had over-steeped the tea or used the incorrect temperature, I tried it again with the same result.
I couldn't even use the loose tea as a potpourri, it smelled awful.
Will never buy this again.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
I've been buying "high quality" sencha from Japanese stores for 10 years and the quality of the Sencha from Teavana beats them hands down. This is consistantly good quality, so for those who know Sencha give this a try. For those who think it tastes "grassy", "like spinach", or "like artichokes" need to stick to their fruity teas, since they obviously don't know much about true green tea.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
Some may not like the grassy flavor. Try this: steep according to directions and then add a nice piece of crystalized ginger to you cup. They ginger will give another depth to the flavor and aroma.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
I try to drink a cup a day. I like to have a warm drink, and am very sensitive to caffeine, so coffee and even black tea is out of the question for me. This is a quality green tea of the style familiar to daily tea drinkers in Japan. If you are looking for a tea with all the bells and whistles, this one will not be for you. This is a tea to sit and have a quiet cup. I found the tea to be a little strong, so I have begun using less than the recommended. When brewed properly the tea has a nicely sweet aftertaste, similar to the aftertaste of artichokes. I know that sounds weird, so I hope it doesn't put you off, just be certain to brew it correctly.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
I am a green tea fan, but both my sister and I didn't care for Sencha. We both noticed it smelled and tasted like cooked spinach. I like spinach, but not for tea. I have to admit, I became used to the smell & flavor after several cups, but I won't be buying this one again.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
I have tried many different types of green tea and this one is one of my favorites. I am a fan of gunpowder because of its smokey flavor. I have also had sencha in flavored teas. This was the first time I tried sencha alone. Upon opening the bag it smelled grassy, but that is just how green tea is. Even gunpowder, being a bit smokey, has the scent of grass to it. I have to admit though, when brewing this tea it smells pretty awful. I guess it will take some getting use to. The flavor, however, is simple and smooth. I added just a bit of stevia to bring out the flavor and iced it. This was the first green tea I have drank that is actually green in color! Overall, I will probably buy this again and make it a staple along with my darker teas for the morning. I just tried their mateavana and it's really awesome if you use to be a coffee drinker and want something more robust.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
I was a little taken back at first by this tea. When I opened the bag, the smell I expected was not there. What I can say is that it smelled similar to grass shavings. Maybe this is the general smell that comes along with green teas, as I've only really had green teas that are mixed with fruits and/or flowers. The flavor has the subtle taste of the smell and it's a taste I don't know if I can get used to. The smell is much stronger than the Organic Dragonwell offered through the site. Maybe it's a flavor I need to get used to.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
The Sencha has a unique flavor I was new to at first, but I reccomend you try it.
I think its good with any meal because it doesnt have an artificial flavor that clashes with foods.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
This is a delicous sencha perfect for anytime, hot or cold. I drink at least a pot a day. A little extra tip, you can grind up the leaves, which helps with diffusion and then it's easier to drink the leaves, too (which for health conscious drinkers, is an extra benefit).

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
This tea is excellent, I usually steep this tea for a little over 1 minute and add only a little bit of sugar to bring the flavor out. I would recommend this tea for anyone that is curious about trying Green tea and doesn't know which one to pick.

I didn't care for this at all. To me it tasted like drinking a cup of grass clippings. I guess I prefer flavored green tea.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
A fine quality green tea--Like all green teas it can be bitter if prepared incorrectly. If they are steeped too long, in particular, they get very biiter. If you like green tea, this is a great everyday tea. I have also purchased the gyokuro from Teavana. And I find that to be much more "tempermental" in terms of how careful you have to be with preparation. So, for everyone but the tea experts, I would recommend buying this instead. The gyokuro was wonderful when prepared correctly--but for most purposes the sencha is fine. The nice thing about the Teavana stores, is that you can always try a cup before buying the tea.

Comments about Teavana Sencha Green Tea:
I'm addicted. This is a simple tea that has become a part of my daily existence. If you've never brewed green tea or haven't cared for it in the past, please consider trying this one, and PAY ATTENTION to the time and temperature of brewing. Too hot or too long make a bitter brew.
