Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

I love my ice tea cylindre. I read the other reviews and I'm surprised that people buy a glass pitcher at this price and do not read the instructions. Borosilicate should not be used in the microwave but it is fine for the dishwasher (though I be sure that it is not touching other dishes and it is secure). To make tea, I add enough tea to two tea balls to brew 5-6 cups, add hot water. For the type of tea I make, I remove the tea balls after 6 minutes. I let the tea cool for about 20 minutes and then put in the fridge to cool further. Borosilicate is resistant to breaking with air temperature changes but this doesn't mean it WON'T break. And note: that is air temp changes. Anyway, I love my pitcher as it is the perfect size for making iced tea for several days and it fits in my fridge.

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

This pot was a gift for the Hubby. Got it for xmas, strainer separated from the lid by end of January! Its not a big deal because it doesn't effect the use of the pot. However for [$] bucks, I thought it would last longer. I find the glass to be sturdy enough, contrary to some other reviews. You definitely should wash this pot by hand after each use, and never just leave it in the sink and the glass should be fine. If my heavy handed Hammer Tech hubby hasn't broke it yet, then that should tell you something. He really loves this thing, so i would definitely buy it again (even though the lid could use some redesigning).

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

After reading all reviews, I took a chance and am delighted I bought this tea maker. Just before I add hot water, I add several ice cubes to the pitcher and insert a long, silver tablespoon in the tea maker. My mother always did this to her best crystal to avoid any chance of breakage. In addition, I always support the bottom of the pitcher, particularly when it is full. Use it constantly and have not seen any cracks and I HAVE bumped it on my sink several times when cleaning.

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

The first thing I noticed was how deceiving the photo is of the actual capacity (32oz). When making iced tea, my solution has been to make a concentrate (2x strength) and then add spring water as I drink it. That way I have enough for 2 days or so. I looked at the larger glass pitcher, but I like how the shape of this doesn't take up too much room in the fridge. I am very careful to cool it completely before putting in the fridge, and will not put it in the dishwasher, to avoid breakage. I wish Teavanna would make this in a 64 oz size, I would definitely buy one! The design is attractive and would be great to serve a crowd from as well if it were larger.

Love it!! I drink ice tea daily now. It is good for multiple infusions. I usually will make the tea and it sometimes will last all week by just adding water as I drink it. I do have to agree with others that it breaks easily. I had to order another one and have been waiting for 2 months for it to arrive :(.

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

I loved it. Used it almost daily, hot tea, iced tea, even made fresh lemonade because it looked so pretty in the container. Then after about six months I put it on the counter to fill and realized it had a large crack all around the handle. Very Sad. No trauma to the cylinder that I am aware of. If the product is improved, I would purchase again.

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

I am a tea lover and have been purchasing Teavana teas for years. Purchased the cylindre glass tea maker and I enjoy using it (almost daily); can brew a day's worth with this tea maker. I heat the water in the maker in my microwave and I have not had any cracking. I rarely refrigerate the brewed tea but when I do, the cylindre has cooled down.

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

Love it, but it needs to be larger. Although it states 34oz - the pic gives you the idea it is larger! Super cute. It is thin, but you must take care of it! We have been using this pot solely for iced tea.

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

It is easy to use and makes great tea. But the bottom is very thin and one of mine cracked after 6 months of daily use. I did not drop it, and other friends have had the same issue. Go for a different model that has thicker glass.

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

I love the glass tea maker! I'd been looking for a glass tea maker, because my Mr. Coffee plastic things never lasted. I don't know how long this will last (I could break it), but I know my tea tastes better! Sometimes, I wish it were bigger, but really the size is perfect because I have to make tea more often, so it's fresher and better tasting. The mesh filter absolutely works - not even Rooibos leaves can get thru it. Great product! Don't ever stop making it.

Base of glass is thin & easy to break.

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

The glass in the base is extremely thin, especially compared to the rest of the pot. I dropped in some medium sized ice cubes for a cold-brew, and when I poured in the water it went straight through the bottom and all over my counter-top.

It's a shame they break easy, because they work well otherwise. I would recommend the Dancing Leaf pot instead, thicker glass and same function.

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

Beautiful to look at but far too fragile to be of use beyond a temporary length of time. I bought this as a gift and the receiver LOVED this until she ended up with shards of glass all over the kitchen when the cylinder lightly (and I mean lightly) tapped the top of the mug she was about to use. Less than a month of use for [$] is difficult to swallow. The one other and it would have been a very minor problem is there is no way to hold the lid while pouring without using a towel or hot pad. A knob or handle of some sort would have been a helpful addition.

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

We just returned from China where everyone carries a plastic version made by fuguang with them all the time. We purchased two and realized we wanted a few more. We have searched everywhere and could not find them in the US. We could not believe it when we found this product. Everyone asks us where we got our tea cylinders, now we can tell them where they can purchase one of their own without going to China. Once you use it you will not know how you got along without it.

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

Do you brew 34oz of tea or 17oz if adding ice? Through experimentation, I made 17oz of tea in it but put a measurement for 34 oz of loose leaf tea. Then, add ice to chill instantly to the 34oz measure of liquid. Brewing time is doubled, of course as is the measure of tea. The filter works perfectly.

Comments about Teavana Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker:

I am trying to drink more tea and this cylinder is perfect! I love hot tea but I don't always like it while I'm eating my meals. This is perfect because it allows you to have your tea made to your liking and it's waiting for you in the refrigerator. It's easy to use and I only wish there were a bigger size so I wouldn't have to make a new batch every 2 days. I may just have to purchase another one.
