I tried Teavana at an old friend's house and became hooked. I've always preferred coffee and I could not stand drinking the supermarket teas....until I ordered Mate Vana. It smells wonderful and brews beautifully. It is not tempermental and you can forget about it steeping, come back later, and the tea is still drinkable!! This is my absolute favorite!

I'm a big coffee drinker, but I was impressed with this. Don't leave the tea bag in your cup for long though, or else it will taste bitter. But this tea definitely encourages me to drink more tea and less coffee. Personally I would rather drink it in the morning and end my day with a sweet, citrusy tea, so if that's your style too I highly recommend it.

I was a big coffee drinker until I discovered this tea. I work early in the morning and was tired of having to drink a steady amount of coffee throughout the day to avert a crash. MateVana gets me up and going in the morning without worrying about slowing down later in the day.

I've been mixing it with Utopian Jewel Oolong more recently, which creates a good flavor and has helped me lose some weight.

I have been a coffee drinker all my life. I occasionally drank tea, but preferred coffee to anything else. I was given this tea as a gift by a tea enthusiast friend, and was immediately smitten! I love this tea, every one of my coffee drinking friends I have shared this tea with loves it, as well. I took a tin of it to work, and in a day the whole tin was gone, everyone loved it so much.
This tea has a similar aroma to coffee, but without the bite of coffee, and without the bitterness or aftertaste of tea.

Mixed: Matevana , Rooibos, Chai makes a Great Combo! A friend gave me this to try and was the best thing for my Saturday morning pick me up which was better than coffee (if you get tired of the same o cup). A little goes a long ways. I made 2 cups out of the one serving. It's great hot or cold. I had a boost of energy & curbed my appetite which stopped me from snacking all day. My kids took a sip and loved it.

Finding a tea that said it was good for coffee drinkers was kind of exciting. I was also really excited when I smelled this tea, it smelled so rich, smooth, and almost mocha-like. However, I was really disappointed when I took my first sip. After being brewed, it smells differently than before and the taste is very weak. It's actually reminiscent of a plain popcorn aftertaste. I really can't express how disappointed I am. I only bought 2oz, so just to get rid of it, I'll be mixing it with chai or something stronger. Won't buy again.

This tea is delicious! I love it. This is the first tea that I have bought from teavana and I think it will be a staple in my house! I have it blended with the Rooibos Chai which is amazing but if I brew to long I think it tastes a little too peppery. This tea has the caffeine of coffee but without the jitters. I bought this a few months ago to try as a coffee substitute and fell in love with it. I start each morning with this and a teaspoon and half of honey, and I am ready to go. It has a rich, but smooth flavor. Rarely does a morning pass that I don't start the day with this tea. Two thumbs up. If I had a third arm, I would give it another thumbs up.

I got some Teavana products as a gift from my employer, who sent them to me in Finland. I have been very impressed so far with the items.

Though this tea does have caffiene-like properties, I don't find that a cup in the evening does us any particular harm as we both find drinking tea in itself to be soothing. The effect is nothing really like coffee - no stomach jitters, no sense of a crash, etc.

I couldn't call it malty, or spicy per se. It's more..creamy. It has a pleasingly complex, full, yet smooth flavour - I get notes of bourbon, vanilla, in addition to the chocolate and delicate coffee references. Definitely it seems to straddle the "coffee to tea" flavour gap, but is so delightfully smooth and easy to drink.

I expected the tea to be a little stronger since it references that this would be a "coffee lover's" tea. Overall did not feel a kick or less hungry throughout the day. Great taste, only used a teaspoon of agave nectar to sweeten.

Well, I tried it in the store and it was delicious. I should have known better than to buy a tea with chocolate in it though, I don't know about anyone else, but chocolate puts me to sleep. This tea is more appropriate for evening, as it makes me feel drowsy. It has tiny pieces of minty white chocolate and sweet dark chocolate. It tastes delicious, I like it iced. But it rather puts me to sleep than wakes me up.It is very tasty, even without sweetener, but if you r looking for a pick me up I recommend strawberry pu-erh.

I am a five cup a day, black or oolong tea drinker. I drink with milk and a little sugar. Not fond of flavored teas (except the almond biscotti).

This tea was so awful I had to toss it down the drain. It is not for someone who likes real tea leaves: teas that are not herbal. It tasted like a variation of coffee (very similar to coffee flavor you find in desserts like tiramisu) - so if you dislike any of the coffee flavorings around, do not buy this tea. If you are a coffee drinker, switching to tea, this might be a really good tea for you to try.

I can't drink coffee anymore because of side effects, but frequently do back-to-back shifts and 30+ hour days in healthcare. I love this tea- it doesn't have any jittery side effects, has great(and useful) caffeine, an excellent aroma and an excellent flavor.

I think a more traditional tea consumer may be put off by this however, everyone I've served this tea to has enjoyed it and told me how wonderful it is. I enjoy this tea in the morning or after dinner. I use a 20oz cup and three & 1/2 teaspoons of tea and three teaspoons of Rock Cane sugar, it's more of a dessert tea but the flavor is so wonderful. I would highly recommend using the "Perfect Tea Maker" when infusing this or any other tea.

I walked into Teavana in Ft. Lauderdale while on vacation. Exhausted from a day at the beach, I needed caffeine and asked if they had coffee. The girl working behind the counter said, we don't have coffee but we have tea that is like coffee and it has a stimulant similar to caffeine, she educated me on tea. I'm a coffee drinker who acknowledges that tea is probably better for me, so I've been making the switch to tea - at least a 50% switch. I LOVE my coffee. Anyway, this tea was suggested by the clerk at Teavana, and I bought 2 ozs. That was a week ago, an it's almost gone.I really like it. The taste has been compared to coffee. That's not true, but it doesn't taste like tea either.

It's a great substitute for coffee. How's that? No astringency, no bitterness, no dry mouth. No tea breath. So far, it's my favorite.

I wanted a full caffeine tea to give me the health benefits of tea along with the wake-up abilities of coffee. But I just want it to taste like tea. This variety has very strong spice and fruity flavors which I don't like at all. I would consider it undrinkable which is unfortunate since I spent a lot of money for it. Can't they blend a full caffeine tea that isn't all flavored? It also has oil floating on top. Is this common in tea?
I would not recommend this tea to anyone.

This tea has a great mix of flavoring. I enjoy the smoothness of this tea. By far it is my favorite. I do tend to brew MatéVana a bit longer then recommended. This does not make the tea much bitter, but adds more flavoring. On occasion an extra amount is desirable. MatéVana is good as is unsweetened, and also with a small spoon of the German Rock Cane Sugar. This is highly recommended and drinkable hot or cold. I am writing this review for the purpose of advising coffee drinkers, not for the tea itself.

I started drinking tea to get away from a nasty coffee addiction that I haven't fully kicked just yet. While it states that this is a great tea for coffee drinkers, I brew coffee with double the grounds, no cream/sugar, so this was very weak for me. For a strong coffee drinker I would try the Assam tea, that was more what I was looking for.

This is a very good tea, but for replacing a morning cup of coffee I use the bolder Assam.

I LOVE this tea. I went to the store to buy a different tea, but they had this one brewing and I smelled it as soon as I walked in. Once I tried it, everything else just fell away. This is so soothing. It starts to relax me as soon as I smell it and once I taste it, I only wish I had a larger mug. I like my tea a little stronger so I steep it for 8 minutes and although I normally don't add sweetener, a 1/2 teaspoon of honey just brings out the chocolate and nuts flavors. So fantastic!

Mild and mellow, with a slightly nibby flavor from the cacao nibs. It's inoffensive, a touch sweet, and while it's decent and refreshingly different alone, it's better mixed with Rooibos Chai. It does have a fine grain to it, though, so it'll tend to leak out of your strainer and drop a coating of little particles all over the bottom of the cup.

I cannot believe that anyone would write a bad review for MateVana. My boyfriend bought a tea set for me for my birthday in July and no day since then has been right unless it was started with a fresh cup of MateVana. Several cups of MateVana even helped me get through my 1st semester of graduate school, including a pretty rough stats final. I have never mixed anything with MateVana as I think it is perfect all on its own. I am very happy with with this product, especially because it means that I never have to drink coffee again. No, it's not your traditional "tea" because it was designed to be a replacement for your morning cup of coffee so please keep that in mind when reading and writing poor reviews.

However, I tasted a sample of this tea at the Court of King of Prussia store and found it to be absolutely delicious. I never used to like drinking tea (I drink coffee at least 6-10 cups a day) until I discovered Teavana with my cousin. She told me to try Mate Vana mix with Rooibos Caramel Creme. After having it one time, my body started craving for it and since then, I now have my own tin with my favorite tea mix as well as my diffuser! It's wonderful to feel refreshed and not have the jitters. I feel more relaxed now than I did when I drank coffee. I brew this tea in volume, cool it in glass bottles and keep it in the frig. I drink it instead of water. What's great about it, it curbs my appitite for sweets, satifies my sweet tooth for a treat, and quenches my thirst for freshness. it also makes my breath smell sweet.

The description is what lead me to this blend. The aroma is lovely, but the flavor is lacking something. There are hints of of few things, but not enough to strike the pallat. Missing something.

Mate Vana is my all time favorite tea! I mix it in a 2:1 ratio with Rooibos Vanilla, Rooibos Rum Mocha, or Rooibos Chai for variety and to cut back just a touch on the stimulant effect (I drink 14 oz). I really look forward to my first cup every morning because it is so mellow and soothing. No matter what driving or office stresses I face, the tea carries me through. Sometimes I have another in the afternoon but no matter how late I drink it I've found it doesn't keep me up at night as regular tea or coffee would. I make a point of never running out.

A 16 oz mug of Mate Vana in the morning has replaced my former double-espresso addiction. I love that it still has a stimulant effect, but doesn't give me the jitters I was getting from my double shot. I also did NOT get the caffeine headaches when I quit the espresso and went to the Mate Vana. Even purchasing a good electric kettle, this is far more economical than my $2.50 per day addiction (plus the gas to get there!).

This tea is sooooo good! It is delicious with a little bit of cream and sugar in it. If you are sensitive to caffiene, you may want to avoid drinking this at night.

I made this tea for my church and Not one person disliked it. It was amazingly popular! I ran out very quickly and my Pastor got the last of it, and spoke about my tea before his surmen. An excelent tea that I would buy again and again.

This tea is great. It tastes awesome mixed with flavored teas, like a flavored rooibos (I suggest caramel or toffee), or even by itself. It's not bitter the least bit, very smooth to sip even when over infused. It provides a little pick me up in the afternoon, but I can not say that I would replace a cup of coffee with this for caffeine. Also, when steeping, the smell of the tea fills the room with a rich sweet smell that even tea haters admit they love.

Started using Mate Vana to wean myself off of coffee. It took my first 28 oz. pot. After drinking the Mate Vana I made myself a cup of coffee my style and found it to be too sweet and too creamy. So I cut the sweetner & cream by half and still don't care for my coffee. Now I'm craving water, teas and have no desire to frequent my favorite coffee place or drink my favorite diet sodas.

Also good with Rooibus Chai, Rooibus Vanilla and with a little rock sugar.

This tea has a great aroma that will almost make you want to eat it out of the bag (be warned it
s very dry if you do so..). This has replaced coffee for me in the morning. It has a smooth taste with a subtle nutty and chocolate taste. The buzz I first got off this was pretty strong at 3tsp, I tapered it down to the recommended 1.5tsp and now it's hitting mejsut right.

The aroma on this tea when the canister was first opened was shocking. I did not expect what I smelled, it is certainly a "WOW!"
