Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
At first, I did not prefer Silver Needle. After a few cups, I decided to add more tea (2 rounded tsp.) per 8 oz of water and brew for 5-6 mins. This change made a world of difference!! I could actually taste it!!! Not too nosy, but it has a delicate, smooth palate that is somewhat floral. Still not in my top 5 though.... Plus, it is pricey.
Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
It's all right. The only problem is it's really light. You have to have a really refined taste to enjoy the subtlety, and as a young tea drinker it has its good days and bad days. It's a bit bitter, too.
Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
This tea is lovely and mild. Smooth on the tongue and exactly how a white tea should be. Natural and slightly earthy flavor compliments any mood and time of day. Not over powering. I also like to combine this tea with Teavana's Frutto Bianco white tea for a touch of sweetness and fruity flavor. EXCELLENT!
Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
My girlfriend and I drink this tea often in the evening. We even prefer it to the slightly more expensive Gyokuro green tea. The leaves themselves are the freshest looking I've seen in a tea. The taste is difficult to describe; as the buds' fragrance suggests, this tea has a subtle sort of grassy sweetness. One of the Teavana employees described it as "creamy", which sounded odd to us initially but actually, I think, describes the texture pretty well. Even oversteeping it a bit won't make it too bitter. As with any white tea, it is relatively light, so if you prefer stronger flavors I would recommend steeping it longer than the recommended five minutes. Very relaxing, delicious tea; very robust as white teas go.
Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
This beautiful tea can be recharged maybe 3 times with fresh hot water. The scent & flavor are quite unique to this very special tea. The gentle flavor lasts through all 3 water refills. I really love your Silver Needle White Tea!!! Kudos to Teavana!!!

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
these claims are made only by me - they are not made by Teavana or any of their employees. I had a bad headache one day while at work. I went to the local mall to get something to eat and perhaps something to soothe my head. I walked by a Teavana and stepped inside as the calmness of the store is usually a pleasant break in the day. I told the sales associate I had a monster headache and could she mix up something for me. She said she had just the thing and made this amazing tea with just a touch of sugar. Plain, no blend. It was so refreshing, so clear and clean. It was soothing, relaxing. I did something for the headache, but I believe this tea was instrumental in helping me feel better. Maybe it was that I sat quietly enjoying the taste, maybe there is something special to the antioxidant - I don't know what it was, but I went back and purchased 8ounces to take home. It is fantastic.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I absolutely love this tea! It is a great tea to drink in the night time when you are trying to relax and just enjoy your evening. The light body and low caffeine are a perfect pre-bedtime drink.
Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I wasn't sure about purchasing this tea at first since it is so costly. But I'm glad that I'm trying it! It really is very nice, soothing almost. I don't add any sugar whatsoever and it tastes great.
I actually put some leaves in a filter bag and can reuse the same pouch 4-5 times in a day without a huge loss in flavor. Very refreshing although some may say that it tastes weak. I actually think it's perfect.
I will definitely purchase again (most likely I'll wait for a coupon code though). :)

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
This was basically the one that sparked my serious interest in tea altogether. I believe I first fell in love with it at a free, small tea/coffee bar at a gathering, where I indulged plenty a cup of this fine white tea. However, I found that it was very easy to make too bitter, weak, or flat by either amount of tea or the steeping time. I decided, personally, that about an even tablespoon in a coffee mug of hot water did it for me, though it wasn't perfect.
The second time I had this tea was in a Teavana shop where there was a small pot brewing for free sample. I haven't had it since, but that one sample was possibly the best tea I had ever tasted. It was light, but not to the point it was watery or underwhelming, and had a very slight floral undertone to the otherwise gentle planty taste. Overall, it had a calming effect, and the fresh/clean flavour was very refreshing.
However much praise I have given this particular tea, I would not recommend it to a friend. I've had several of my tea-loving buddies try it, and they all told me it wasn't something they'd try again. I believe this tea is something of either a personal or acquired taste.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
If there's a tea I like better out there, I haven't fount it yet. This is near perfection. It's subtle, but not weak. Really nice, both sweetened and (as I prefer) not. Holds up to several steepings as well, and the profile changes in a really nice way with each.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
This is one special tea- the best white on offer from Teavana (other than the Silver Yin Zhen Pearls). It is NOT a tongue-teasing, tasty treat that fills your mouth with candy or fruit (like I usually like). It is NOT a party tea. It is, rather, extremely subtle. It can be TOO subtle- almost non-existent - if not made strong enough or brewed long enough, but bitter if too much is used or brewed too long. You may have to try it a few times to get it right for your palate. When you do, it is a truly transcendental experience drinking this tea. The flavor is just enough to make you want to find out what will happen with the next sip. It will exalt your mood and your mind, willing or not. This is not just a drink, but really an experience. Sometimes you want "just a drink" or a tea to fill a craving. This is not the tea for those times. I definitely understand why it was guarded for the Emperors-they had to have something to make them feel superior! And you, too, will feel like a royal lord as you sip this light leaf essence, with a hint of caffeine to prolong the moment!

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I use this to cut down other strong teas, it's perfect for that, I also use it for when I'm in the mood for something extremely light. This isn't really a gift item, unless your recipient already knows what they are doing with teas.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
This is the best "traditional" tea at Teavana. I have many favorites, but among the pure, unflavored, and straight teas - this is the ultimate. This is a great tea to use with a Yixing Teapot. You can give any tea a boost of antioxidants by adding this to it. It also enhances the flavors of any tea you mix it with.
Also, for the money, this is a great value. It is so light and fluffy, you get a lot for the weight. When you use it straight, it can be infused many, many times. If you make this in a Yixing, you can literally make tea all day with one or two teaspoons.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I enjoy tea for its own sake, but I also love flavored fruity herbal drinks - but I want to get the health benefits and, in some cases, caffeine, of tea. Silver Needles is so mild, it's the perfect white tea to blend with any other tea, but especially with the herbals that lack the protective and anti-cancer benefits of tea. It's expensive, but when you're blending it, it stretches a long way.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
Such a wonderful tea. I feel like a new person after drinking this consistently for a few weeks. My skin seems brighter, clearer, and I feel lighter. I recommend it with a combination of Rooibos, which adds a lovely flavor to it with additional health properties. Happy drinking!

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
This tea is pure in every sense of the word. If you are new to tea, please give this one time to grow on you. If you drink it and find there is nothing there in terms of taste and presence, then use this technique; when you go to take a sip, slurp the tea in with your lips. The louder and harder you slurp the better. Even though it seems like a crude gesture, it really helps unmask and enhance the hidden flavors of this tea, much like wine drinkers do with a glass of wine. If you do this, I assure you that you will learn to love this tea. ALSO, keep steeping time under 2 minutes. Even though it says 4 minutes on their time suggestion, white teas don't need alot of time to release their flavor; but experiment with the time for your own pleasure if you wish.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I bought this tea on the recommendation of the salesperson at the store. The loose tea had a refreshing, clean scent, so I figured I'd give it a try over my usual morning cup of coffee. First go around I brewed it a bit on the strong side, then did some research and followed the steeping time.
This is a great tea, hot or cold. It has a mild and very fresh taste. I haven't mixed it with other teas as of yet, but today tossed a mint leaf in my cup for a little additional kick.
Leaves are good for multiple brewings.
Once I use up this batch, yes, I WILL be buying more.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
this is my most favorite white tea. it is light, clean and as pure as can be. The tea itself is like a fluffy cloud and when the warm water hits it, flavor melts into the water. It's beautiful, BUT (and there is always a but) I got terrible news from my local teavana shop today!!! They told me to stock up b/c the crops for the next harvest are not good enough for their standards and this tea will not be carried until the weather and conditions of the crop improve! IS THIS TRUE!?!?!? What will I do!?!?

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I decided to try this tea close to a year ago. It's one of the more expensive teas from their selection, but as others have said 2 ounces of the stuff lasts forever. I've had the same container of Silver Needle for close to a year, the stuff lasts forever and is so light 2 ounces is quite a bit of tea.
Taste wise, I find this to be the "little black dress" of the tea world. It is so neutral in flavor, just barely there. It's rather light but that's what white tea is naturally -- those that like a flavor burst from their tea experience may want to avoid this one. The tea does have a flavor and a unique one at that, but it's not for everybody. I love mixing this with fuller-bodied teas to lighten their flavor or on its own, hot or iced.
My favorite part about this tea is the way it's made my skin feel. I have sensitive skin that can become irritated easily if I don't take care of it. Recently I found that my skin was so irritated that when I used moisturizer with alcohol in it there was a stinging feeling. Ever since I have been drinking Silver Needle on a daily basis, my skin has cleared up and doesn't sting anymore.
I definitely recommend this and will be getting more once I run out.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
when brewed correctly, this tea is smooth and delicate and needs nothing to enhance it. No heartburn with this one... very healthy and peaceful.... my absolute favorite.
Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
This is a nice simple white tee. A bit to plain to drink alone for my taste, but an excellent base to blend in an Herbal or Rooibos with and still keep it caffeine free.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I never bought tea in my life before I stumbled upon Teavana when touring San Francisco. If this was back in my hometown, I wouldn't even have noticed the store. I got by on the occasional cup served at Chinese restaurants, or whatever my parents foisted upon me.
I tried the few samples on display, and Silver Needle stood out because of it's light flavor and interesting backstory. Who can resist a tea that was made only for the imperial palace and picked only two days per year?! All around, it just seemed cool.
This was almost a year ago, and my canister is practically empty now. My dad is a tea enthusiast and although he was unimpressed at first sight (like seriously, his daughter picking a tea? what a joke), he now praises it as very high quality. (It helped that some Chinese novel mentioned it)
We always drink it hot, though I should try it iced someday. I haven't really followed the directions on how much tea per fl oz, etc - I just take a couple pinches of leaves and fill my mug up to the top.
Personally, this tea works for me because it's very light. If you're looking for a rush of flavor, this tea is not for you.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I love the way this tea looks, how it unfurls during steeping, the tiny shimmery silver hairs, its delicate aroma and smooth light flavor. It's a very elegant tea, and makes me feel fancy when I drink it. I also find it very soothing- a delicious simple tea without all the fruit and flowers and bells and whistles.
Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
This is one of my favorite teas from Teavana. I don't really like it for a hot tea, I always drink it cold. I just love how refreshing it is. I don't like fruity teas and this doesn't have a hint of that.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
It kinda of creeps me out that the tea is fuzzy. I had to log on to the website to make sure that my tea didn't grow fungus on it. I'm glad the picture shows an enhanced version of the tea so I know the fuzz is normal for this tea. Phew.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I originally had this mixed with Peppermint, it balances the strong peppermint flavor so your not overwhelmed. But since it is very high in antioxidants, low in caffeine and light, I thought you know this would be a nice blend in some of the stronger iced teas (ie Blueberry Bliss) when I just want a lighter flavor to the tea. I get the antioxidant of a white tea while lgihtening a full tea.
I don't drink this on its own. Oh and don't be scared by the price, its so light in weight that it lasts forever.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
When I first tried this tea, I couldn't seem to brew it right. After a few times, it finally came out alright. It is a weak tea.. I usually drink this before I go to bed and mix it with tranquil dream and it's great. I wouldn't add sweetener because it would take away the taste.
Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
Remembering the Chinese White teas are gentle and mild in nature, flavor and aroma, this is one of the best balanced and medicinaly sound teas to drink.Pricey but worth it! Best not to expect or compare it to be like the Chinese green teas or especially like the Japanese green teas.I alternate this tea with my Pi Lo Chun green tea (Chinese) and my Gyokuro and Sencha greens teas (Japanese) for a wonderful balanced, medicinal tea drinking experience.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I bought this because of the white teas cleansing properties. While it is very light on its own, I have been blending it with Gyokuru green tea and Ginsing vitality in the morning. Talk about perking up! I used to just take this in a thermos and drink throughout the morning, but now I make one brew and use it for the liquid in my green smoothie, which I split with my son, and the second brew I get from the leaves is now what I take in my thermos. I use one heaping teaspoon Silver needle, about 1/2 to 2/3 teaspoon Gyokuru green tea, and 1 teaspoon Ginsing Vitality. I use a huge coffee mug, about 16-18 ounces and the first one is very strong so that's why I use it in the smoothie and the second cup I make is more mellow, but I'm still energized throughout the day.

I'm new to leaf teas and found Teavana by Googling. What a find. I'm trying all kinds of tea and this is one of the best for me. I love it alone, but I also downloaded the Teavana app for my iPhone and use the suggestion to blend it with Dragonwell. What a great combination and flavor. Thank you Teavana for both your teas and the iPhone app.

I purchased this tea with the Monkey Picked Oolong (which I highly recommend), but I am highly disappointed. Although I do enjoy the aroma, the flavor very displeasing (it tastes very grassy).
Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
Some say this tea has no taste, I disagree. Tea that is overly strong is not for me. If you like tea that has flavor but is not overwhelming-this may be the tea for you. I absolutely love the flavor of this tea warm and often drink a full pot while unwinding in front of the tv. It has great health benefits and mixes well with others, although I still prefer it alone.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I have tried many types of white tea, including several different regions of plain non-flavored white tea. This one, while not horrible, is nothing unique. I've had delicate white tea buds, so pure that you have to close your eyes when drinking just to get a tiniest hint of sweetness. I've had some big tough white teas that were incredibly full bodied, with deep notes of flavor. This one is neither end of the spectrum - plain, unoriginal, and not worth it.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I got this when I asked an employee for the stores "best of the best". It was described as the most pure of teas, as it is completely unprocessed, it sounded great! It is even recommended to add to everything, because it has a high level of antioxidants, and virtually no flavor!
I tried it by itself, and it has NO flavor. It's like drinking hot water that you swirled a dry leaf in quickly. Nothing to it at all, and if this is the BEST tea? Not impressed.

I sampled this tea at teavana and instantly loved the taste, as it was sweetened; unsweetened is good too. I purchased it for health benefits, for the benefit of the ritual, and I wanted to try something different. Great color on the first steep, and still tastes wonderful after several steeps.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
Smooooth! Try it with a bit of white honey. Delicate, pure, very smooth... Nice light aroma. When you get a little tired of all the flavorings (even though natural) in other Teavana teas, make yourself a cup of this one. Great with deserts or heavily spiced meals to balance the flavors with its purity. I add different herbal teas to it if I want to experiment, but still like it best as is. You can steep it more than one time and even though pricey, it feels and looks like feathers, so 2 oz. looks like much more!

I bought this tea because it is the rarest in the world... It is absolutely the best white tea out there. However, I like my tea stronger, so I found this to be too weak for my taste. It does make great iced tea, but for the price I would not purchase again . . .

I sampled this in the store and couldn't believe how light and soothing this tea was. I had only ever tried tea in bags from the supermarket that tasted bitter and spicy. I was hooked on this tea from the first time I tried it and I'm now converted to an daily tea drinker! I like that it has a subtle flavor, but if you don't make the water hot enough to steep with it tastes like a bit like lake water.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I love this tea!!! I got into tea by way of green teas, loving their earthy, grassy flavor. I would frequent tea shops in and around the DC area and became aquainted with a number varieties. I began to appreciate the most delicate varieties of green tea due to the subtlety of their flavor. Then, about 5 years ago, I started drinking White tea and quickly became addicted. This is one of the nicer white teas I've had the pleasure of drinking.
This tea isn't as sweet as the others I've had but I think I am starting to prefer it over the others. It's sweetness is so light. You almost have to concentrate on it to taste it! So delicate!
Anyway, I love this tea when I am reading or working on my philosophical writing. I love this tea after dinner, in the evening, in cold weather especially. It's also wonderful to drink sitting on the porch during the rain. It's just so whimsical and light, so subtle and yet so profound. It always makes me feel a bit more connected to things when I drink it. A delightful tea experience, to say the least.
If you are looking for more subtlety in your tea, a bit more sophistication in your tea experience, try this one. I think you'll like it.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I have never been a tea lover, because I was always drinking tea BAGS. NO MORE!! I just recently discovered teavana and the joys of PURE, REAL tea. This white needle is exquisite! Smooth and not bitter at all! I got a suggestion from someone in the store to steep it for 15 minutes for a SUPER POWER PACKED ANTIOXIDANT BOOST! and it is phenomenal. I add just a touch of the german cane rock sugar so the taste isn't altered at all. I pour the water from my tea pot when it is STEAMING- NOT BOILING. If you do let your water boil another suggestion I was given at the store is to put ice cubes over the tea leaves ( about 5 or 6) to cover the leaves and that way the boiling water WON'T SCALD THE DELICATE TEA. I love this tea and so do my children!

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I was originally wary of this particular tea because my past experiences with white tea have always been flavored whites where all you can taste is some fruit or another. Having never experienced a non-flavored white tea, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was wonderfully surprised. It has much more flavor than I expected. The flavor is delicate, of course, but it is far from bland.
You need to enter into drinking this tea from the standpoint that the flavor is going to be very light. Lightness of flavor is not a bad thing when it is intended.
The cup steeps slowly, so give it a full five minutes or until it turns the color of the leaves when wet. It should be very transparent, allowing you to see the bottom of your cup. This tea is also virtually void of tannins, allowing for at least two perfect cups from the same leaves. You can even steep a third acceptable cup, but I warn you that it loses a lot of it's intrigue with the third. Do not even bother trying for a fourth.
A wonderful tea for anyone to enjoy at any time of the day, especially at night when you want to avoid caffeine.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I love Silver needle white tea. It is a staple in my daily diet. Asked how best to describe it, and I just can't. It's just simply that unique! This is a great tea if you get bored of the "same taste" type teas.
I brew for about 7 minutes in 175 degrees water and it seems just about right in flavor.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
This tea is great. It's very light and smooth and goes great with a meal. I add a little honey to highlight the flavor. This is also great if you have a cold or don't want one(who does?). I feel very good and energized from this tea. Brew at about 180f for about 4 minutes. I prefer not to steep it any longer, but you could.
Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
Once you try Silver Needle, other white teas will pale in comparison. This is the original white tea, and has a significantly richer and more complex flavor profile than other types of white tea. It's delicate and mild, but do not mistake that for boring. I honestly feel that those who found it to be a overly mild and bland must not have steeped it right. It does need a lot more time to develop than the other types of white tea leaves. A smooth, intoxicating scent and flavor, with a complete lack of bitterness. One of my favorites.
Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I love this tea. They warned me it was flat and light. Yes it is that but it has such a untique flavor that is makes up for it. Yes, it is light, but I like light with nothing in it. IT is great with a higher fat meal like chiken. It is good and you should at least try this tea. IT is so healthy for you ,too. I have not been sick this fall and winter yet. IT is great for anyone who does have the sniffles. IT is a comfort tea, too

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
Please do not listen to the people on here bashing this tea. the problem that they are having is that they are uneducated when it comes to tea. With Silver Needle, you need to have the water at 180 degrees Fahrenheit. and i steep about 1-1/2 Tbls for about 10 mins for the first cup, and maybe about 15 mins for the second cup. these amounts and times can be adjusted for your personal flavor but what a lot of people are probably doing is steeping it with boiling water, and that just ruins the tea, or if you don't steep it long enough then you don't get the full flavor that people are complaining about.
don't just drink tea. learn about it and your tea experience will be much better.
and don't add any thing to your tea. you might as well just drink sugar water. enjoy it for what it is.
thanks for your time...

I only starting solidly drinking tea 3 weeks ago because of sensitivty to coffee/caffeine,& it's effect on my high blood pressure, but wow, love this Silver Needle. I was drinking a store brand de-caf green tea, but this is so much better. Quite honestly, I don't miss the coffee in the morning, not that I had that much. I would recomend this tea, but would seep a little longer than the 4-5 minutes as stated.

The purest tea in the world shouldn't really have any taste. So the fact that someone is judging the tea on its taste is unfair. You can blend it with any tea if need be and it will taste great. I always feel better when drinking this tea. My skin has NEVER looked better! I also don't get sick anymore. This is truly a miracle tea. Definitely worth the money!

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I would never buy again- Had no taste, no color- Perhaps good for me but there have got to be others that have some taste that are equally as good for my health

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I blend silver needle into every cup of tea I ever make. It has zero flavor, and I would never drink it by itself; however, it has some amazing health benefits, and can be blended with any other tea without changing the flavor. I strongly recommend this tea to anyone who drinks tea for its health benefits.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
Ok, so white teas in general are not my favorite and this is the king of the white teas. It is rather bland, but also very good for you. The reason I like to keep this tea in my cupboard is that it opens up lots of possibilites for flavored white teas. For example, want some blueberry white tea...add some of the blueberry rooibos and you got it. However, to just sit and drink the stuff plain--very bland.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
This is by far my favorite tea. The subtle sweetness accompanied by the unique aroma and delicate finish is unparalleled in my Teavana experience. It's important not to judge this tea in relation to something like a strong black tea because they're both wonderful but they're as different as night and day. There may be no caffeine but I still get a relaxing energy boost. This is enhanced by the knowledge that I'm getting a ton of health benefits from something so pleasurable.

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I'm happy I tried this tea. Silver Needle popular with white tea drinkers. Even though I understand that this is a light tea, it was too light for me to enjoy on a regular basis. But try it for yourself and find out!

Comments about Teavana Silver Needle White Tea:
I found this magnificient tea delightful after an infusion in my iron tea set. On occasion, I mixed a teaspoon of this with a tea spoon of Gyokuro or some raspberries.
