Nowhere near as good a Black Dragon Pearls. Similar in taste as the Pearls, but not comparable in complexity, flavor, or finish. It does smell very good though. I would recommend this tea to a friend only to see their reaction in comparison to the Black Dragon Pearls.

Love a good black tea. English Breakfast is my #1. First cup of Golden Monkey was weak. Tried again and used more rock sugar and tea. Now I am hooked. Can't leave it alone!

I wasn't a fan of the scent while it steeped. I wasn't fan of the first taste. Second taste included one sugar and a splash of milk (maybe more like a quarter of a splash), and it was better, but it definitely tasted the way it smelled. Something didn't sit right.

Luckily, I had a fudge Poptart, and a mouthful of fudge Poptart is perfect with this tea! The rich fudge is a perfect complement to the odd taste on the middle of my tongue. (The front of my tongue likes the tea just fine.)

Nice, smooth tea. Not very complex in flavor, but distinct while not being overpowering. I find it soothing, though not quite mellow.

Good Black tea, less strong than the Black Dragon. You wont be disappointed! If you love Black Dragon, this will not knock your socks off, but if Black Dragon is too strong than this will be your go to tea!

I have tried many of the Teavana green teas (6 month tea of the month club), but this is the first of their black tea that I have tried. I tend to prefer my black tea very strong, and by my standards this is a rather weak tea, but the outstanding flavor instantly made it my favorite black tea. This tea is smooth and very satisfying. My only regret is that it is too expensive to drink every day, so I have been only drinking it occasionally when I want a treat.
The only reason I did not rate it higher is that until I have tried more of their black teas, how can I possibly say one is "Perfect".

I had high expectations for this tea based on the description and my love of black teas. I did not care for the tea. It tasted too earthy and just had an overall weird taste (yes I steeped it correctly).If you are looking for a high quality, smooth black tea, go with the Black Pearls, you won't be disappointed.

I love the flavor and body of this tea. It is my number one choice over every other black tea. I find that the flavor is nice and rich, and very satisfying. The scent is breathtaking (in a good way) and I have gotten my friends hooked on it. The only thing I find I need to do is add just a tad more sugar than normal, as it can be a strong tea at times, depending on how many times you have brewed the leaves. It's the perfect tea for all those black tea lovers out there.

I had some of this tea in a Teavana store recently. I don't consider myself a fan of black teas (I am a major oolong tea drinker) but I have to say I liked the complexity of this tea. It was a tea I had to think about. The top layer of flavor was rich in dark chocolate but the the more I drank, the layers of spice and black cherries become apparent. For someone who has an experienced palate and can appreciate all the subtle layers of flavor of this tea, it is a delicious treat for the taste buds.

This is a very unique tea. The first time i tasted it I wasn't quite sure that I liked it. The second and third times I grew to like it more and more. It's very different than other black teas I have had. It's not as strong as some but would compliment being blended with most teas.

I got suckered into buying this at my local store. At first when I got home and brewed a cup I was not too sure I like it. After sipping some more and admiring the unique flavor I now love it. It's very different and can be steep several times which makes the cost better in the long run. Teavanas teas have never disappointed me.

Received the Golden Monkey Black tea as a gift and I blended it with Toasted Nut Brulee Oolong Tea. It was an extremely pleasant morning tea! I am new to tea so I try to take extra care in not "burning" the tea leaves with too hot of water and not steeping over the recommended time. I would highly recommend this tea for tea enthusiasts as it is a very versatile tea.

I have never made this tea just by itself because I have been too busy blending it with anything and everything else. Just as O+ blood is the universal donor, this tea is a universal blender. This tea will make any and all other teas TASTE BETTER!! My mother is a Teavana junkie like me and so I blended this with some other teas at her place over Christmas. She wanted to know why my tea tasted so much better than hers. No secret! It's because I blended her teas with Golden Monkey. I'm out of G.M. at the moment and mom and I are making the trip to Willow Grove Mall at the end of the month. This will be my biggest purchase by far.

An excellent choice to serve with breakfast or as an afternoon pick-me-up. One of the very best black teas I have tried. The malty aroma reminded me of my days as a beer homebrewer. It has a very smooth taste with a medium-long finish. I never add anything to this wonderful tea. I steep it for 3 minutes at 195 degrees using filtered water and it is never the slightest bit bitter. I brew it by the pot as one cup is never enough. Well worth the price, and I never steep it more than twice. Rings my bell!

I wish I had bought a sample size. I have loved almost everything I have purchased from Teavana and made the mistake of assuming I would love this too. I did not and I wish there was a customer nearby who liked it. Its so expensive I hate to throw it out!

Golden monkey is delicious on its own. I was afraid that it would taste like a black tea bag, but it has some nutty, chocolatey flavor hints that make it delicicious. I have also blended it with Zinbiger Ginger Coconut Roibos and it is delicious that way as well. I wish that it wasn't so pricey, but I can steep it 4 times with the same flavor in every pot. It is worth the price.

I was less than pleased with this tea when I was preparing it my usual way, with milk for the morning brew. Thanks to your "tea-composer" in the Sawgrass mills store Fl. he suggested to add a little coconut or hazelnut I tried the coconut and wow, I love it. Now transformed into an afternoon black pick me up!

I drink this in the morning and afternoon when I am at work. This tea is full bodied and delicious. I have mixed it with Zinbiger Ginger Cocanut Roibos and that is also a delicious combo slightly sweetened with honey.

Teavana's Golden Monkey is the best Golden Monkey I've tried. While its expensive, I haven't found any other tea with which I prefer to begin my day. Its both smooth and hearty. It has a kick to it which I need to get me going. As a former coffee affectionado, this tea made me a convert.

My future Son In Law introduced me to Teavana in Florida. I use Golden Monkey in a Tea Sak bag. And brew for iced tea mainly. The best thing about Monkey is i brew it and put the used Tea Saks in frig. for a few days until i need it, it is even better the second time around.(no kidding). Oh and i do not add a thing to the tea after brewing- it is best on it's own! Lovely!

This tea may lack something of the complexity of an oolong or some of the darker black teas but I find it to be a refreshing mix of the darker notes found in black teas along with the smooth, subtle sweetness of lighter (green and white) teas. I love this tea in the afternoon when I want to relax but I still want a little pick-me-up.
