Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
Gyokuro takes some getting used to. It's a taste that you almost need to acquire, but once you do and get used to the sweet vegetate taste it has, it can be addicting. The tea has great health benefits and many people I know swear by it for weight loss as well. This is a very high quality green tea, mixes well with Sweet Oolong Revolution, and worth the cost.
Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
This tea is great for people introduced to green tea through matcha who want something that takes less effort. The first steps in their production are very similar and they have a similar taste. Even at a low temperature for only 40 seconds, this is a very strong tea. It's a pure vegetal joy that needs nothing at all to improve it. I wouldn't recommend sugar, since it's a much more savory than sweet flavor, especially with it's tendency to become bitter.
A few people don't quite believe that it's able to fully infuse all it's qualities in such a short time, but many teas are just that strong that it's mostly steeped the moment hot water touches it.
It's a very heavy loose tea, so it may not last as long, but it really doesn't need much to steep because it is much more dense.
Drinkers used to Chinese green tea may take some time getting used to this because it's so deep and strong but it's worth it.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
If you read Servan-Schreiber's, Anticancer book he says the polyphenols in green teas are not realeased until you brew the tea for a full 8 to 10 minutes. I think it's kind of funny to spend megabucks on the best teas and throw the best part away...
Still experimenting... I love tea even when it is "over-brewed"

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
When I was looking for a new green tea to try, I asked a worker at Teavana what they recommended, and this is what they told me to try. And trust me, I'm not disappointed ! It's very fresh and smooth, but you have to make sure you brew it right. If you steep it in boiling water, it burns the tea leaves and leaves a bitter taste. Brew it at a lower temperature for about 40 seconds, and it's perfect. Especially delicious with a drop of fresh honey. I can't drink enough of it !
Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
This is a stronly vegetal tea, but there is something that makes me keep going back for more. I cant explain it, but I like it. Definately doesnt require much seep time. 25 seconds in my perfect Tea Maker is all it needs.
I also like to add a pinch or two of this to Silver Needle to green it up a bit, or sometimes I combine Silver Needle, Jasmine Dragon Pheonix Perls and a pinch of Gyokuro to that. It's good.
Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
I enjoy this tea in the morning instead of coffee. I add a teaspoon of honey to a large (16 oz) Travel mug that I take to work and enjoy all morning. Tea is very vegetal and smelling the bag smells like fresh mowed lawn (not in a bad way). Straight-up original green tea.
Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
After trying several green teas from Teavana, I found this gem. The deep, rich flavor profile it has is exactly what I was looking for in a green tea. My girlfriend and I both love it and now drink it almost exclusively.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
Maybe I am not as much of a tea enthusiast as I would like to think. I am not a fan of mere chlorophyl flavoring. But more than that discrepancy, I have a hard time believing that a tea you can only steep for 30-45 seconds at such a low temperature can succesfully transmute the level of quality benefits from the tea to the water that green tea is known for. At this price I would much more recommend the Matcha Green Tea--for flavor and believably purported medicinal value.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
As long as you brew it correctly (175 degrees, 30 secs) this is an exceptional green tea. My favorite! Worth the price. Goes a long way. I use 1 tsp. for 12 oz.

I love this green tea.
It's quality is unmistakeable - just try it.
It's very unlike Chinese teas - the difference must be in the roasting - Absolutely lovely!
Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
This product is my favorite. It keeps me going all day. I prepare a 16 oz thermos and keep it at my desk. The warm robust and nutritious tea is a great substitute for the coffee I used to drink. My overall feeling of wellbeing is off the charts.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
the key with this one is to steep it less than a minute. it's so tasty and fresh. let it cool off a bit before drinking. i feel like i'm drinking a serving of fresh veggies (in a good way). it's simple, i don't mix it with any other tea and of course no sweetener. i drink it all day. i get 3 steeps off this. it doesn't keep me from falling asleep even when i drink it at night. this will stay in my tea rotation forever.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
After being a tea lover for quite some time, I was in search for new teas rather than the ordinary ones you get at the grocery store. I recently found Teavana and all it had to offer, including Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea. Although I was a bit skeptical that I would actually be getting a premium tea, I soon found out that it was premium indeed. I love this tea and will no doubt get it again once I run out. It makes me feel like I'm in the mountains of Japan. A feeling I look forward to. I highly recommend this tea, you will not be disappointed.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
Good for multiple infusions. Great with a meal or by itself.
Use moderate water temperature and minimize steep time or the flavor will change on you! 45 sec steep is perfect! Absolutely, no longer than 1 min!
Very soothing with an uplifting aroma and sweet aftertaste...no sugar or honey needed! Try it with Peach Tranquility for a soft, fruit flavor additive.
Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
My absolute favorite tea.
Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
i brewed this with an herbal tea to cover up the vegetable flavor and it was great. the vegetable-ness balanced out the fruity sweetness and i felt great later on.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
Only gets bitter if you steep too long. Very fragile tea. 30-45 secs is all it needs. I usually start to drain when I get to about 35 and then it's done draining by 45. LOVE THIS TEA. Can never go back to anything less! Mix with silver needle for add health benefits!

very very good green tea. Don't be fooled by small amount for the price. A little goes a long way with this tea.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
My main concern here is with the instructions. Gyokuro is extremely delicate and must be treated with care to brew a proper cup of tea. Using water that is too hot will produce a harsh, metallic, astringent tea.
Before steeping, pour a small amount of cold water--just enough to wet the leaves--over the tea and allow it to sit for approximately 1 minute. Then steep for 2 minutes in water heated to 90 degrees Celsius.
An easy way to tell if your water is the correct temperature is to look for the presence of "dragon tails:" tiny bubbles streaming to the surface from the bottom of the pot.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
Cross off the Teavana instructions. This is not like other green teas! Japanese would NEVER brew Gyokuro at 175F. I've been experimenting with this particular tea for a while now, and I found my favorite combination for this tea was using 2tsp / 8 ounces, 140-145F water, for about 2-2.5 minutes.
If your tea comes out overly bitter or grassy, you've overdone it, but it will still make a fine cup on further infusions. Prepared correctly, I find it has a mysterious sweetness that makes my mouth water.
Later infusions you can use less time. I've just been eyeballing them by color (looking through my lovely clear perfect teamaker) with decent results.
Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
My girlfriend and I purchased this for health and digestive purposes, but were happy to find the taste well worth the price. We will make it in a small teapot or our large cast-iron and both ways breed good results. Perfect for waking you up in the morning or in the evening after a meal.
Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
Prepare Gyokuro as the Japanese. Tea is sweet and mellow. Best enjoyed with the early morning light and quiet surroundings.Only "negative"is that Gyokuro is expensive.
Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
Gyokoru is an acquired taste. It is Japan's most expensive and revered tea. It is supposed to taste VERY vegetal and it can come as a shock if you are not prepared. If you love Japanese green teas, than you will love Gyokoru. Teavana's version is a standard Gyokoru, but it is still very good. It is supposed to be brewed at much cooler temps, so it will be astringent if you do not. Give this tea a try - it is Japan's finest tea!

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
Those complaining of bitterness are most likely overbrewing this tea. It's important not to use boiling water and to brew no longer than 30-45 seconds. It doesn't take long. Any longer and this tea becomes very bitter.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
How I got to experience this tea was rather interesting. I was having dinner with my girlfriend and it was a Chinese buffet that served this particular green tea which really caught my attention. Unfortunately they had no idea what the name of the tea was but I could recall the taste very well.
After dinner, I rushed my girlfriend to the Teavana near the restaurant and I asked the lady behind the counter to open the container of Gyokuro tea and behold! That was it, I knew it all along! I must have drank like 8 tea cups of this tea while at the restaurant because this tea it utterly addictive to me personally!
How can I describe this taste to you? Well first let's start with the smell. As with most green teas, you get a whiff of that clean and fresh smell like it was picked the very morning before you purchased some of this tea. This is the dry smell commonly smelt before it's been brewed.
Once it's brewed...I swear the smell. If you smell the brewed leaves in the filter from which you brewed, it has a smell like Kentucky fried chicken. It may sound like an odd association for tea, but the more I smell this, the more it seemed to reinforce the smell to me. This is not meant as a criticism, I just have a knack to making associations with things I have tastes before.
Anyway, the taste. As I try some now and swish it around my mouth. It really gives your mouth a clean feeling as it goes down with a pleasant aroma. I probably can recommend this as a good tea to swish with after you brush your teeth.
I included that it has an earthy taste to it. For the most part it does, especially when you get down to the last few drops.
Honestly, I don't have any cons about this tea. I wholeheartedly love this tea. I call it my "happy tea" because it always puts a smile on my face every time I sip this tea. It's a tea that I just cannot drink unconsciously. I can't help but notice the taste, the aroma, the smoothness every time.
I recommend this tea for sure :)

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
I tried this before buying at a local teavana that is independently owned. I didn't want to like it, but it was wonderful. So, I bought some. Later I was shopping in Boca and decided to get a cup to drink. It was awful--very bitter. It had been prepared incorrectly. The original store informed me to be very careful not to steep more than one minute or it gets very bitter. If prepared correctly, it definitely has a unique slightly sweet after-taste. And it can be infused multiple times with no loss in quality.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
I never steep this tea more than 30 seconds when making it in the perfect tea maker, which I know IS NOT the best way to steep Gyokuro, but hey... It turns out very nicely when steeped at a lower temp than instructed and for only 30 seconds. Also, try rinsing the leaves quickly then steep the tea. It makes it even yummier. This tea is pricey, but think of all the work that goes into growing these teas. I mean, growing the tea under bamboo shades to better the tea as far as health benefits go? Yea, I don't mind paying more for that. Also, that Teavana only buys the top five percent of tea from gardens. It's worth the money.
Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
This tea is fantastic.
The only thing that isn't so great is that the water has to be perfect. It should be brewed lower than normal green teas (110 - 140), and brew it for about 2-3 minutes.
Also, it is a high priced tea.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
This is the most I have ever paid for a Teavana tea, so I was naturally expecting an amazing drink to come of it. I certainly understand where Gyokuro-lovers are coming from--this is a unique tea with a strong, full flavor--but it didn't suit my taste nor my expectations. I prefer light, sweet green teas, but this was bitter, full, and almost wholly unpleasing to drink. I'll have to try steeping it as described by the above reviewer who found a 1/2 teaspoon to be more appropriate. And although I was confused at first by a different reviewer's choice of the word "meaty," I believe this is the only tea I have ever tried which may actually elicit the use of such a word.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
This tea is the embodiment of Teavana. It's flavor and quality are unmatched in any green tea I've ever had the pleasure of tasting.
A low temperature brew with an extra half-teaspoon per 8 ounces produces an infusion that takes one back to the tea's roots of Uji, Japan during the Meiji era. Due to its quality of cultivation, Gyokuro or "Jade Dew", is considered by many as one of the highest grades of tea available.

Comments about Teavana Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea:
It was great but teavana says to steep this tea at 175 degrees and with 1 teaspoon. But traditional gyokuro is steeped at 140 degrees and alot more tea leaves then a teaspoon. Ive experimented and found that a heaping half teaspoon, at 130 - 140 degrees and 14 - 16 oz was the best way to experiance teavana's gyokuro. I wouldnt buy this product again but I would definatly buy from teavana again in the future.
