Tamagata Kikumon Artisan Tetsubin
$650.00
Inspired by a local chrysanthemum festival, artist Hiroshi Isagosawa designed this beautiful cast iron teapot to feature stylized chrysanthemums covering the top half. Isagosawa-san is a certified Dento-Kogei-Shi or Master of Traditional Craft of cast iron. This large tetsubin is a work of art, but it still makes great tea and even better conversation. Teapot holds 44oz of tea or 1.3 liters.
Handcast and hand finished by an artist, this artisan japanese cast iron teapot takes months to create. It is larger and more difficult to make than most cast iron teapots. It is also authentic, which means it does not include an infuser basket or a porcelain or enamel lining. As you steep teas in your teapot, a build up of tea residue will coat the inside of the teapot. Simply allow your tetsubin to air dry after each use. Every artisan tetsubin we offer features the artist's chop mark somewhere on the body of the teapot.
