Tachishiho Arare Artisan Tetsubin
$700.00
Tomoyuki Maeda wanted to use the traditional hobnail pattern in a modern way, so he crafted this unique tetsubin. He also wanted to experiment with a challenging shape and a tall, square teapot is difficult to cast correctly. However, the end result of his inspiration is astonishing. This unique teapot features diamond shapes of the hobnail pattern on a tall, serious teapot. Maeda-san is a certified Dento-Kogei-Shi. This large teapot holds 34oz or 1 liter of tea. With proper care, it will last a lifetime.
Handcast and hand finished, this artisan japanese cast iron teapot takes months to create. It is larger and more difficult to make than most tetsubin. And it is authentic, which means it does not include an infuser basket or a porcelain/ enamel lining. As you steep teas in your teapot, a build up of tea residue will coat the inside of the teapot. Simply allow your tetsubin to air dry after each use. Every artisan tetsubin features the artist's chop mark somewhere on the body of the teapot.
